A good video editing program or a good free editing program? There's probably something good out there if you're willing to pay for it but if you're trying to find something good and free at the same time then I know how you feel. I was trying to find a good free video editing program about a year ago and in the end I came up with nothing .

I found out that Youtube prefers .wmv files and ended up just using Windows Movie Maker. The version that comes in Windows 7 has some nice new features and can handle HD quality. Uploading my starcraft video to youtube finally after trying to figure it out all night.

I used fraps to record the replay. Theres a setting in fraps that allows you record your mic directly with the fraps video, too.

I talk to my mom's cats, which are all the way in Michigan.

I do so through AIM sessions with my mom, in which I say stuff like "meow" and "Cute fluffy kitty!" when she mentions that the cats are on the chair or whatever. I miss the cats

You could always use CamStudio, too... if you're looking for something free.

Codecs can be a bit of a weird thing, though. I personally use the Xvid codec and just record in PCM audio, but I convert to a slightly lower quality video and MP3 audio before uploading.
