(Sneak Teyla in as a beauty. The sprite for them wasn't ugly in the GBC games )

Names should be easy to harvest though. You plant them and they grow in a week, and they're multi-harvest too, and worth a ton. Summer only though, so they die in the fall.

I would try naming things with the random button on the wikitonary

but that would take forever

This hack looks cool too --

I tried to find a cool pokemon hack a while back,
but the search turned up empty handed

Are you bringing in Pokemon from the newer games like Prism did, or is it just G/S/C's?

Anyway, maybe I can be a trainer in there? Cooltrainer Supa, perhaps? :V
With a Nidorina and uh... some other guys. Maybe a Sneasel?

Actually, this gives me an idea.

The trainers in my gym should be named after my characters

Yes, I am an insignificant n00b, but can I be in it? Oh yeah, I'd appreciate t if I could have a Rayquaza or a Slugma/Magcargo.

Are you serious.

Also in case you consider naming NPCs don't put me as a trainer. Rather something like a Bill replacement or Prof--- PUT BUENA'S PASSWORD IN THE GAME.
I don't know if it'd be too hard, but I would be wondering why isn't there a patch for it already.

If you put me in there, use Lain (from Serial Experiments Lain, of course.)

And have me use psychic pokémon. That's as close to being in The Wired as it will probably get, I guess.

Looks interesting thus far. Can't wait to see it develop. I kind of lost interest in the Pokemon hacking scene. It was never really my expertise. Pokemon glitches were my thing.

That being said, I look forward to this hack.

As I've said before, this is a pretty neat idea and I'd love to see you follow through with it.

So, yeah, being a trainer is okay with me, but I'd probably have to be called "Snifit" or something, as we all know what would happen if you called me "Red." As for Pokemon, something silly like an Abra that only knows Teleport and/or a Metapod that only knows Harden along with something that can actually fight, like a Magneton, would be nice.
Alternatively, a lone Wobbuffet would be fun.

I have not had much time to work on it lately, I am geting ready to go back to school, and finding a place to stay (No Dorms) is hectic. I did alter a few items, and work on cleaning up the first maps.

So, in a while it'll be done. o/

(Also, don't worry, everyone who posted here will be a trainer, no need to ask. :p)

ooh ooh me me

You should be able to hack up the roster to give the trainers' Pokémon moves they could never normally learn? A Raichu with Ice Beam seems like the kind of thing I'd do.

And now for a new feature in this thread:
Gold Hacking 101
The information for what a pokemon trainer uses is stored after

the trainer name and a 0x50 byte. It follows this format:
[NAME][0x50][Trainer Type][Pokemon/Level/Extra Data][0xFF]

There are three trainer types, each with their own format after
the trainer type byte.
0x00 - Standard Trainer, Format is:
[Level][Pokemon #]

How ever many [Level][Pokemon #] before [0xFF] is how many
Pokemon that trainer will have.

0x01 - Gym/Elite 4 Trainer, Format is:
[Level][Pokemon #][Attack 1][Attack 2][Attack 3][Attack 4]

How ever many [Level][Pokemon #][Attack 1][Attack 2][Attack 3][Attack 4]
before [0xFF] is how many Pokemon with custom attacks that
trainer will have.

0x02 Held-Item Trainer, Format is:
[Level][Pokemon #][Item #]

How ever many [Level][Pokemon #][Item #] before [0xFF] is how
many Pokemon that trainer will have.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Example Time!

Let's take BILLY in gold for example:
At 0x039E8F, we have the start of our information:
[81 88 8B 8B 98][50] BILLY [0x50]
[00] Trainer Type 0
[1b][2e] Level 27 - Paras
[1b][2e] Level 27 - Paras
[1b][3d] Level 27 - Poliwhirl
[23][84] Level 35 - Ditto
[FF] END

One more example, just for fun!
CARRIE at 0x039FDC
[82 80 91 91 88 84][50] CARRIE [0x50]
[01] Trainer Type 1
[12][D1] Level 18 - Snubbull
[B8] Scary Face
[CC] Charm
[2C] Bite
[7A] Lick
[FF] END

More information to come, I guess. :p

In fact it shows how stupid are the bug-catchers to use things they just caught and don't have any offensive moves and expect to win.

They have a separate format just for trainers holding items?

Aha, I see~

I still like the idea of my gym full of my characters though.

In the 4th gen, AI all around was improved. I dunno if they ditched the seperate trainer system though, as E4 and Gym members are more likely to use full restores and such there.

Heart Gold and Soul Silver probably have a more individual AI for gym leaders (and for different trainer classes).
Actually I think something like that must have been around since Gen. III, where I saw some Gym leaders switch around pokemon and do smart things...

Then again, I have never hacked that stuff.

Don’t forget type 0x03, which lets you specify attacks and held items.
