Geno's one of my favorites, and was actually a character I thought was going to be in Melee back in the day. Cloud looks interesting, too.
Characters are stored in .pcs and .pac files on the Brawl disc. There's a .pcs and a .pac for every character texture that has the entire model in it (.pcs is for multiplayer, .pac is for single player, for some reason). A while back, an awesome hacker named Phantom Wings developed a code that allows you to replace files from the Brawl disc and read them from the SD card instead. There's also character moveset files, that are broken into several pieces (the Final Smash has it's own little file, for example,) but most of the character's moveset are in two pieces - the motion file for all of their animations, and a plain .pac file with all of their moveset information - How much damage they do, what animations to run, etc. The two biggest programs are Smash Attacks (You want the .21 beta), and Brawlbox.
If you don't want to mess with the GeckoOS codes (Basically action replay) that let you replace files on the fly, you can also use a homebrew program called Riivolution, although that doesn't support backup-loaders intentionally.
Geno was made over six months back, and everything has developed quite a bit since then, so he's kinda primitive. The topic for everything about him is
here.
Eldiran's stuff is a bit more advanced than mine, and is
here.
Cloud was made by two hacking teams - KC-MM and DasDonkey. I think the most recent release is
here.
There's also stages, for example:
Which is found
here. Sails and I collaborated on it, though he's boring and doesn't do Smash mod stuff now.
And all information, along with some guides and a place to ask questions, can be found
here.____________________
