| Heh. One time there was a guy at my forums who would start a whole new topic to complain about spam topics. I asked him nicely not to do this because it defeats the purpose of mods deleting spam topics if there's now a whole new topic talking about the spam.
He completely and utterly ignored me and made a new topic when a spambot hit us again. This time, I more firmly told him to stop playing "Spam Police", or else. Unfortunately, his own message board was deleted and archive.org doesn't have a copy, so I couldn't find the exact quote, but he made a post at his board afterwards basically saying something along the lines of, "I don't care what FO says. I'm going to continue to be Port Saiid's Spam Police whether she likes it or not." Needless to say, he eventually got banned and that wasn't even the only reason why. |

08-08-10 01:15:39 AM Post #3521 My favourite such incident was seeing a DDR game in a mall in Edmonton(?) somewhere, displaying a notice something like "NOT LEGAL FOR USE OUTSIDE JAPAN". Yeah k.
Also I love how the boards that have like 17 different bot checks, making registration involve jumping through more hoops than getting a used car loan, often generating false negatives and making you redo the entire process 11 times, inevitably are flooded with bots. (Hello, Xfce forum.) Meanwhile forums like this one that appear to have little defence and make registration easy as pie for actual humans tend to rarely see any bots.
