Got a small update for my hack... just had to show this one off!


Pulsed laser turret. It shoots a straight laser too, but most of the time it shoots in a pulsed fashion. It could be due to DD's new level format or it could be the autoscrolling I'm using for this level.

Either way, the pic does not do it justice.

Working on this again.

Renders nearly every track nearly perfectly now. Most of the glitches are just I need to find some of the hardcoded pointers and add them to the data files.

Luigi Raceway is one notable exception.

Its textures seem to be in a very strange place indeed, devoid of any actual image data. Quite odd.

The hex window is just for debugging, there won't be any hex editing involved here.

Looks kind of like a Kaizo-style hack to me. I'm not a fan of those, I prefer hacks with difficulty somewhere between the original game and SMB2J

And yeah, Sukasa is correct here. Even modern versions of Paint can save images as many different formats that aren't as huge and wasteful as .bmp files.

Surprisingly they still allow shit quality on content and users at times.

Regardless, I don't think any normal video game player will find that level enjoyable, and there is more wrong then there is right for me to point it all out. But hey, at least the palette is decent. :/
