So, I got a new phone recently. And the differences between it and my old phone are so aggravating.

The big one is this. On my old phones, to answer a call you push the SEND button. On this one, just flipping open the lid automatically answers the phone. Not only that, but if you hit SEND right afterward, as I do by force of habit because that's how my old phone worked, it mutes the call, AFAIK irreversibly and displays some ominous, but vague, message that says "Requesting...". I'm constantly having to hang up on the muted call and call right back, which is bad if a person called me but the number redirects to a machine with an automated menu.

Then, I got a call with call waiting. I tried to hang up the current call to answer the incoming call, and what happens? It rejects the incoming call instead and continues with the current call! Ugh So I ended up rejecting a call twice and they didn't call a third time, so I had to go through the menu and be put on hold.

That reminds me, I hate hold. I'd rather they just call me back rather than making me hold a phone to my ear for a long time. Especially since my cell phone charges by the minute even for local calls and 800 numbers.

Paulguy's Post configuration
For the first one, you can usually disable that in some settings menu. If not then blegh.

My Samsung has a lot of infuriatingly stupid features that cannot be disabled. For example, while the phone is closed and ringing, the two volume buttons on the side will either mute the ringer or reject a call (I haven't bothered to figure out which is which). Of course, the buttons are extremely sensitive, and I ALWAYS end up touching one when I reach into my pocket to answer a call.

I also can't seem to find a way to change my "incoming message" tone, though it's probably just buried somewhere in the nonsensical interface. This really sucks because every Samsung seems to use the same tone, and I always mistake someone else's phone for mine.

I feel like I'm being punished for not buying into the smartphone craze...

I have the best solution to all cell phone problems. Just don't buy one.

As paulguy said, there is usually a feature in the options to turn off auto-answer on flip phones.

As for hitting send while on a call, that usually initiates another call for 3-way calling. Check your instruction booklet how to properly answer an incoming call while you're already on a call. Sometimes you have to press the menu button and then accept.
