So. I've been without Internet for a while, so that's where I've been if anyone has noticed my absence. I'm at Best Buy currently, using an iPad for the first time. it's actually pretty nice. Deffinitely not emptying my wallet for one though. Anywho. Hope everything has been running smoothly and everyone is doing well. Later

Never tried an iPad, but I'd recommend one of those Lenovo or Acer tablets, imo...

At least with one of those, you could run Linux on it if you wanted to, no jailbreaking required. And you can run just about any app on a Windows-based tablet PC, or even Hackintosh it (but I'm not sure if Snow Leopard supports touchscreen monitors or not...)

I used one and made a post some time ago. Its actually fairly easy to type on. Not quite as fast as a real keyboard, but not bad for a touch screen. Very smooth, very quick, I would get one if I had $500 extra to throw around. But alas, I do not.

Its a niche item, like most off Apple's products. Especially v2 or higher of anything. If it really doesn't improve what you specifically use it for or add something you really need, then theres no real reason to buy one.

Hi darthbobby! It was odd that you were gone for such a long time, actually. Jul seemed to be lacking in neon purple postbits. Kind of an interesting curiosity.

And on the subject of the iPad ... if I was given one, I'd take it. Would I really need one? ... nah. I can see it being very useful in the medicine and education sectors but everywhere else it'd just be a novelty.

I think I mentioned some few posts ago that for over a year I was stuck using a PSP for all my internet useage. But I was not just that it was everything I would nomally do on a computer. I actally got so used to using it for everything that I kinda forgot about fixing my computer. You be suprised about the amount of stuff you can do with just a hacked PSP!

Personally, I find the iPad very useless, but my dad wants one because he has lots of PDF programming magazines for the Commodore 64. In my opinion, the iPad is either a glorified iPod Touch or a watered-down iPhone, depending on your outlook on life

Personally, I found it to be the other way around: My iPod touch was easy to type on, but the iPad was unwieldy to use.
With the iPad, the screen layout and whatnot make me want to type on it like I would with a keyboard, but the placement of the thing makes that impossible...

Anyway, the picture quality on that thing, to me, is pretty fantastic. But then again, I'm stuck with shitty camera-phone/DSi pics, personally. :\

I can see the appeal of a tablet like iPad, but I was using one the other day and the software just reeked of poor design. I'm holding it "wide" and I open a Youtube video, and suddenly it's rotated. There didn't seem to be any way to rotate the video to the orientation that would make any bloody sense. Then I tried the map program and was annoyed at not being able to poke at something to find out what it is.

Also, lolapple . I'd buy a similar device if I had the money, but the iPad itself, no can do.
