I wouldn't have mentioned Megaleg if I wasn't 100% sure it was meant to be tied to him. The file name is TripodBossSwitch. It is worth mentioning that the beta Megaleg boss also has a switch related to it.


Also, this might not be much worth mentioning, but there are two copies of Megaleg's low model, one with a 2 at the end of the name. It is identical.

As far as I can tell, identical layout but only basic model completed.

Edit2: Okay, so, the Red Star that gives you the Flying ability is called PowerUpFoo. This is FooStar.


They are the right size to float alongside Mario just past his arm's length. The texturing is identical with the Red Star. Is this perhaps what they had planned before giving him glowing laser hands?

Edit3: Okay, so Foo is just... a dud star bit. And FooFighterAura is this thing:

Also, many programmers use "foo" (as well as "bar" and other monosyllables) to indicate a generic variable name. And there was a band called the Foo Fighters

It could also be that "Foo" was just some mistranslation or some such.

Also, regarding the aura, given the shape and such, I'm guessing it's used as some kind of effect for... I dunno, some kind of fighter enemy. I can't figure out why it's flat horizontally instead of standing up.

Tetsu/tetu/てつ = 'iron.' So, it's basically an IronKuribo... or IronGoomba, whichever you prefer.

So, as you may or may not know, King Kaliente is referred to by the game as "OtaKing". Well, meet... OtaJack.




I'm not sure what to make of him. He only has a wait animation and a handful for... being grabbed? I guess he didn't put up much of a fight.


Edit: I think I found an unused planet. It's called StarPlanet and is just a big fat star, with exactly 1000 polygons. It has no textures associated with it. I'll get a better look at it later to confirm that it's unused.

The yellowed eyed "iron goomba" is probably related to the helmet Goomba that I think has yellow eyes.

There was a dice type object in Galaxy 1 but it was flatter maybe the model was squashed? it was in golden leave galaxy - cataquack to the skies - (last planet) bunny chasing planet.
You span them into walls and they smashed and gave out star bits.
Maybe somebody should look at this.

If anything, it might be a prototype for Astro Goomba (the helmeted one), which goes by Metbo in the game files. Also, the sliding mystery blocks from Golden Leaf Galaxy are quite different from block, which is named SwitchBox.


I've found another DKJB enemy, the fat pig ball.


Edit: Just found something really interesting. It's called StarWand. I can't get a good picture of it right now, but it looks like a wand with a sphere at the end, inside of which is a star. It has no animations, BUT does have a related arc, called StarWandCursor that only contains a couple of .bti files. If Treeki or someone could look into this thing, that would be great.

Seeing as how the wand is part of the model, I imagine not. Figuring out what the StarWandCursor files are might shed some light on it.


In the mean time, I'm putting this batch of discoveries on the wikie, complete with some new pics. Looks like "iron" is definitely a fitting name for Tetukuri.

Speaking of spheres, I made an interesting discovery with the help of Someguy. Know the rolling star ball that you ride on? There are two versions. One is named KoopaBall and the other is named Tamakoro. (Translation please?) The only difference I can see so far is that KoopaBall lacks the ring that tilts as you control it. I'll examine the two closer for polycount and confetti placement later. Oh yeah, and another important difference is that KoopaBall's origin is at the bottom center, while Tamakoro's is in the absolute center of the ball. I have a feeling KoopaBall is an earlier version of it!

I think it means something like "ball roll" or "ball rolling".

I just did a test, and KoopaBall has 500 less polygons and less objects, organized in a different way. It doesn't really warrant its own picture, as even the confetti is mostly the same.
