Have you ever participated in an unusual amount of whatever grinding in a game?
I just finished leveling up to 100 in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. It was a lot faster than you'd think

Sometimes, I'll grind for a while in RPGs, but I try to spread it out rather than having a marathon grinding session

I remember throwing the holy water at zombies in the original NES Castlevania for points. You got huge bonuses, usually a total of 3300 points for killing 3 at once, and you got an extra life every so often.

Not that it helped, as extra lives get lost quickly on the way to the 4th boss, if not earlier, for me.

Once upon a time, namely four (or so) years ago, I started playing MapleStory.
Around two years ago, or so, I stopped playing MapleStory.

From that day forth, I swore that I would never grind again, and I haven't broken my vow since.

I remember playing Pokemon red and at the time did not know how to get rid of the old man blocking the way, so insted I spen ages leveling up my Charmander to level 25 and then found out that you had to deliver a parcell to Oak, ended up wizing past the first 4 gim leaders before needing training again.

I beat Borderlands, which is a series of tedious tasks. I generally have no patience for grinding, though.

I'm not really a big fan of grinding. The only time I've really sought it was in order to get to the last rank in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, and then again in order to beat the optional super-boss. Even though I purposefully went to it, though, I didn't really enjoy it. Fighting the same enemies over and over and over again. Only the music kept me interested.

In Pokemon, I never really have to grind, since I have sort of a "never run away from a fight" style that usually leaves me stronger than the next gym leader.

Ragnarok DS...with a process.
Novice: head to the first cave and kill a few V.Bats and Beetles for JLv10
Lower Job: head to the labs, killing things on the way for ~20 JLv. Earn the rest on the top floor from Baphomet Jr., Mimics, and the like until at JLv30
Higher Job: head to the labs, killing things on the way for ~8 JLv. Earn the rest on the bottom floor from mainly Isilla and Alice, sometimes Remover and Diabolique. Stop at JLv30, but if (somehow) BLv <50, increase that.
Limit break back to Novice, do it all again except with +20 Stat points compared to before (if Blv <50, +10 instead)

I could do it when I was younger...I can't really anymore. Probably too much time overlevelling in Final Fantasy games.

If I have to grind in a game for whatever reason nowadays it usually results in me turning off the game in disgust :/

Every time I buy a 3D JRPG, most of the time I feel incredibly ripped off. It's like RPGs went to shit when they went 3D honestly. The only one I've liked recently was Dragon Quest IX.

The only game I've maxed up my level in is MOTHER 2 on MOTHER 1+2 (Beating MOTHER games are easy even if you don't know a word of Japanese)

Borderlands is the only game I'll be willing to grind.

But I have fun doing it.

Yes, all the time, especially in RPG and action RPG games.

I still grind in Runescape

I grind all the time in Zelda Classic and other games.

And I don't mind grinding at all.

FFT: A2 have been quite a bit of grinding in... I have still yet to beat the "last boss" simply due to there being quests I have not done yet!

Digimon world (DS, Dusk, Lost evolution): I tend to grind quite a bit in dusk and DS, but lost evolution actually have less grinding in the main gamplay, which is good. =)

Not to mention the current MMO I'm playing is quite a bit of a grind feast.

I normally hate grinding, but it's actually enjoyable in Star Trek Online. If you don't feel like fighting, you can get experience points for exploring unknown sectors. You also get treated to a Spock monologue

Actually, I just took on a quest two days ago to raise a Minomon up to level 41 within a week. If you succeed you get to keep him, if not, then, well...

I can't stress how much grinding is related to this. I got him up to level 20 within day one, but I would say it would normally take me at least 2 weeks to get from level 31-41 alone.

You guys haven't experience grinding unless you played Everquest back in the day. There were "hell levels" every so often that required double the amount of experience to get through them than the previous ones... That was hell. They eventually did away with them.

Most MMO's (like EQ, SWG, and WoW) are all about grinding. In Everquest, it was always grinding for Alternate Advancement points, in SWG you would grind endlessly to get exp for advancing your skills tree (now its completely different and boring), and in WoW you grind levels by questing.

In normal RPGs, such as Final Fantasy games, I always would do tons of randoms just to make boss fights easier. I also got gold chocobos legitimately in FF7 and that takes a lot of work. And so does waiting for a stupid Ninja to throw a Chaos Blade at your character in FFTactics.

I essentially grinded my WereGarurumon's speed stat in DWDS by putting him in the farm, training him until he was too stressed, took him out, gave him sundaes, and repeated until I got tired of it.

I also beat the game yesterday, and I won easily. I DIDN'T EVEN GRIND THAT HARD OVERALL WTF? Totally not a Super Ultimate mahn of pure chaos and destruction.
