Well, it's a bit of supply and demand

It also makes the big juicy units a bit more attractive. It plays better than it sounds

They're more Advance Wars DS/Days of Ruin style COs where bland is the new weakness...although a few of the COs do have explicit weaknesses as well (Kemal has an unstated one on the blog and Klaus has one that is stated for his COP).

Course, the base price is reduced to compensate, sort of...but that'll probably just mean hitting the Cap on units sooner. ...if you play on big maps, at least.

Well I mean during normal gameplay. You're not about to build 35 mechs if the other player on this map (this *tap tap* map) was out to get you, right?
Even a maze-map would still have airports turn into priority play and keep people from hitting the limit. Or something like that.

Well yeah.

It's basically just supposed to add an element of diminishing returns to building solely one type of unit...a soft check and balance on a unit's power and efficiency.

It also lets you come back from a bad position a bit more easily because you can rebuild your army cheaper if it got destroyed and trashed by the opponent.

I remember seeing work go on that before, I forget where though.
So if you can just give a unit a kill, II units should be top priority right? Then I and 0, try not to let a V eat a kill if someone else can.

Now the powering up, are the damage / defense boosts in raw numbers, percentile multipliers or ingrained into the formula system? (That made no sense did it)

You would have seen it before because I showed off a few screenshots. But yeah, you want to get as many units from II to V as you can.

And the damage/defence boosts are percentile multipliers. (It's pretty much like the Days of Ruin system)
