I need a starter pokemon for my rom hack, from the first 250-legendary&magikarp. So pick your favorite Pokemon and argue for it. What ever pokemon gets the most support is the starter pokemon.

I'd personally like to see Eevee as the starter Pokémon, but if that's unacceptable for some reason (like how it's already starter Pokémon in another game), then I think you should go with Machop.

Eevee works pretty well, what with its multievolutions.
Also yeah, it's starter in XD, but Colloseum had it best with both Espeon and Umbreon

Otherwise... Dratini and/or Tyranithar.

So, Eevee looks like the best choice. Able to evolve into 5 types, with day/night cycle working, this is a good thing.

Dratini, it's awesome and you have a good start. It's hard to level but you can use it for quite a while until you need to catch something else.

Not to mention it got three stages, something that is a must for a starter IMO. =)
It learns thunder wave at 5 and twister at 11 so you get moves on a quite nice starterish pace.

Depending on which version, movesets are very different and so viability as a starter changes a lot.

I played Silver recently with a magnemite which was overpowered. I'd go with tentacool because honestly who doesn't want to play as a metroid?

Yeah, go with Eevee, with all its umpteen ways it can evolve. You can really design your hack in a non-linear way this way! Seems to be getting the best support anyway. I'd play this hack!

I don't think the starting pokemon would change how the story progresses In the end you'll still need to catch them all

Story-wise, no... but Gameplay-wise you have more choices than you did with the original idea of 3 starters. Besides, I always wanted to know what it was like to fill Gary's shoes ever since Yellow. Lucky little bastard.
