Article here. It's kind of depressing how his parent's have actually let him smoke for 6 weeks, without attempting to stop him, and people film him in the most unsafe situations (smoking, holing a lighter)

He's not only got smoking as a health problem, he's clearly overweight for his age.

'What can we do but to accept it is as it is?'

Take the fucking cigerette and lighter away from him, you idiots.

edit: fixed url

Moronic parents. Idiots should be neutered at birth.

It looks like we already have a thread on this, actually. I notice the difference in his name's spelling (Ardi vs. Aldi), but his parents' names, country, and age are the same

Eh, didn't notice that (it's on the 2nd page for me) I only just found this in the newspaper too, so forgive me

Still, it's more of a continuation from that story - since it's now been looked into how his lungs are going to be affected as he's older and how his parents have refused to take away his cigarettes because he'll throw tantrums.

What in the fuck.

You know, when I see shit like this, I tend to really get depressed about humanity. I mean, when these damn aliens land they're gonna go wtf and blow shit up. How's that supposed to make me feel?

It's like giving alcohol to your cat/dog... that can be considered animal cruelty in most cases, believe it or not. =/

I'd never give any alcohol or any other drug to my cat, definitely...

It's not the same as that at all especially since it's perfectly okay to give your cat a little bit of alcohol since it slows their reactions and is useful when your cat is being very overactive in the house.

What depresses me the most about the picture is that they let him smoke to take it, instead of taking the cigerette off him

Well, some people just don't think. It doesn't occur to them to take it away... or they're lazy. Cultural attitudes in that area are lax about it, so they have no reason to care... in their minds.

Or in the possible event where they are injured and may need the alcohol to help ease the pain. But there are painkillers for pets now so there's really no more need.

Well, she probably meant something like giving your pet bowls of beer/wine/vodka instead of water, or something like that, not medicinal alcohol

I've heard that chocolate can kill a cat or dog, though.

Yup. My dad has a friend who had a dog that was given a Mars bar. It ate it and died later that day.

The stupid thing is, I repeated this story in a science class when we were talking about animal biology, and apparently the dog was stupid for DYING. Fucking retards. I'm glad I'm out of there.

Chocolate doesn't kill dogs and cats, it's all the other stuff in the chocolate (nougat, caramel) although you shouldn't feed it anyway since cocoa is a laxitive for animals.

On topic;

Footage of the boy shows bopping around town in an undershirt and shorts while sucking on cigarettes and puffing out smoke rings like a seasoned pro.

It sounds like the media is complimenting him that he can smoke now rather than being negative about it and trying to get him to quit

It's well known that Cigarettes are extremely unhealthy, lead to problems, and even the sugeon general's warning on the boxes now say "quit now!" (literally). However, people still smoke cigarettes. Is anyone surprised about the ambiguity as to whether the populace sees this as a good thing or a bad thing?

I'm just wondering when it'll get to the point where cigarettes are completely outlawed. Or at least only legal in your own home. It might not be fair on addicts, but it isn't fair on the rest of us to get it second/third hand.

Outlawing cigarettes wouldn't do a thing except make smokers have to do it illegally. See the prohibition of alcohol, it was extremely ineffective and just leads to crime. I'll personally never touch one of the damn things; both of my grandparents were lost to lung cancer.

This is outrageous. How moronic can people be! Sometimes I'm just ashamed to be of the same species as some of these people.

Smoking outside is hardly bad. It's only second hand smoke from places like pubs where 80% of what you're taking in would have been smoke is bad.

Tell that to my lungs.

That is very rare and shouldn't be any reason for having people stop smoking outside or anything, you just need to be careful about who is smoking around you.

What about the random inconsiderate jerkwad who walks around him, puffing like a smokestack?

(this happens to me all the time downtown...I apparently have a condition similar to Joe's, and it's rather unpleasant)

^ both me and my dad have the exact same issue, so I have a deep hatred for smokers who stand in the way and smoke in places where they know the shouldn't. (Like, in a fucking tunnel with signs that says it's forbidden)
