There were 2 other threads that were stickied as well, around the same time, bringing it up to 9, which is what we found excessive before. I think at least 1 was a Pokémon thread, I don't remember the other (maybe the other Pokémon thread).

This is exactly why threads like the Pangya one and the Team Fortress 2 one aren't stickied in that forum... besides, we're fairly lenient with bumping in most cases (although on some boards, >30 days is considered to be a bad bump. =P)

And yea, I think 6 to 8 stickies is a good limit for a single forum... any more is just overkill. =/

Not to be rude, but you all kinda drove the thread way off topic.

Anyways, it's good that the storm is staying away from the oil spill. Don't want to know what would have happened if it went into there right now.

I just hope my relatives in Texas will be ok :/

STFU up already! *Please, as mentioned by other members of this message board (in this thread), please stop all this talk about if this thread should be stuck or not.* Xkeeper says it stays stuck. End. Of. Story. If I see one more post about why this shouldn't be stuck, I'm deleting the post. And I also feel like making a list of just how many people are effected by hurricanes each season. Off the top of my head, ten. For those who do not care about hurricane season, stay out of this thread.

EDIT: BTW, thread was moved to here, so bitch there.

EDIT: * means this was added after the original post was posted.

Looks like it is slowing down from earlier predictions, as well as going further south. Texas may only see the outskirts of the storm, which still can be a lot of rainfall and some storm-surge.

Alex is in the gulf, someone will get hit by it.

And slower isn't good.

Now we have a hurricane.

...ALEX BECOMES THE FIRST HURRICANE OF THE 2010 SEASON AND THE FIRST JUNE ATLANTIC HURRICANE SINCE 1995...

I meant projected wind speed. Slowing down its movement speed is bad. But it was over 100 for wind speed for a while. Now its less than 90 when it hits land.

It appears to be going towards Mexico and Texas, if the news I watched on TV is any good.

And apparently it's up to a category 2 now, and Obama has preemptively declared a state of emergency according to our weather channel.

Yea, a CAT 2 is a baby hurricane compared to a 3 to 5. Even a 3 isn't that scary.

But I'm hearing that it isn't a CAT 2 yet but it could end up being a CAT 3.

Either way, people should be ready.

From the track I see, It's still a 1 right now, but will become a 2 right before it hits land.

And don't discount it because it is a "Baby hurricane". Look at what TS Fay did a few years ago(Oh the flooding......THE FLOODING)

Oh right, now I remember. Even tropical storms can be a huge pain.

The track on Weather Underground shows that it will probably hit Category 2 by nightful as mentioned, and then revert back to a tropical storm by morning. Let's hope it doesn't do anything crazy.

Some very strong category 5 hurricanes should get their own Category 6 or 7, etc. if you ask me, especially stuff like Katrina back in 2005. =/

Last year, I got the remnants of both Bill and Daniel here in the Albany area... two storms that actually hit the Northeast, but only as tropical storms. Didn't get much damage, but it did rain hard for a day or two.

Alex is now over the mountains of Mexico and is a tropical depression.

Thankfully, it looks like damage was minimal in both Texas and Mexico.

Man, I live in AZ and all I get to worry about is the damn Monsoon season, which has been nothing but a drizzle the last few times around. I mean, there was like *one* storm in August last year that was something interesting, but no cool shit ever happens here. I'm wanting to live in a place where I can experience some crazy weather sometime... The east coast sounds a helluva lot less 'boring'...

I mean, I'm not totally ignorant to the danger and inconvenience that people have to put up with, but I almost welcome it due to the sheer dull weather features here...

The grass is always greener on the other side. Trust me. You might want "more exciting" weather, and you'll get that. But you'll also end up getting lots of "exciting" weather you don't want.
