This one is the Optimus Popularis. Same design: has an LCD for every key. But this one says it will have maximum LCD real estate on every key instead just a small portion like the Maximus. Also has a wide "widget" screen on it.

Sounds like fun, but too expensive for most consumers even at sub $1,000. Its more like something you would see in Tony Stark's house.

Are those fully programmable (i.e., easy to make custom layouts with)? I've always wanted a keyboard with such a feature. Maybe over the years, the price will drop.

The first one was the Optimus Maximus and runs for around $2,400. It is fully programmable to where you can change the icons on the keys and the function they perform. It is a really amazing keyboard with all you can do with it, but super expensive. Here's a sample of some of the things the Maximus can do:

Hotkeys with shortcut icons

Games (Quake III)

Photoshop

Paulguy's Post configuration
Can it work in Linux?

If not, it'd be maybe fun to RE the protocol and write a small userspace program for it. But it's too much of an investment for something that I might not end up having the motivation to do, and I just might not like how the keyboard itself feels It also misses a lot of keys that even the worst laptop layouts don't even leave out, which is very disappointing.

Both are just LED screens, not OLED. I said LCD originally LCD, but they are LED.
