They wouldn't store the original revision. They'd store the current revision and any changes required to go back, that is if they do that at all and don't just store all revisions.

Storing only changes becomes absolutely fucking retarded if you give it any consideration whatsoever. There's simply no way to do it and maintain anything resembling efficiency or understandability or simplicity.

Text compresses very well, and really doesn't take up that much space to begin with. Terabyte hard drives can be had for $100. I think storing the entire text is quite reasonable.
