Pulled from a text dump. Lots of Platinum leftovers, which isn't surprising.

There's also Defog/Honey tree text, but I severely doubt those were ever intended to appear, so they really aren't notable.

The fact that Route 23 is an extant location tag is notable, though.

I don't see why not.

Game is built on Platinum, has Platinum text in it. Doesn't mean anything we don't already know.

"A horrible person". That's what it says. "A horrible person."

We weren't even testing for that.

Using your reasoning, the leftovers from Ocarina of Time that can be found in Majora's Mask are "not notable" either.

What's up with the Japanese text on that page?

つな\u000dりのど\u0007\u0010つ

For example, I'm assuming this is つながりのどうくつ, so why is there code in place of hiragana? Is that the game's fault?

Control codes are like HTML tags in some cases, like \u000a might be "new line" (like <br>), one might be for "player's name", one for "pause dialog until next A push", etc.

Got it. Seems strange that such a short string of text would be so broke up by those, though.

Does it look right how you originally read it?

It may not be control codes. It may even be dictionary keys (000a being some long string of oftne-used text, for example). I can't say.

Each \u000x replaces 1 character, with no seeming rhyme or reason.

English:

"Connecting Cave"

->

"Conn\u000xcting C\u0007\u0010e"

I posted about the issue before in the talk page: Notes talk: Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver

There is perfect "rhyme and reason" to it. A redump would be in oder for that. However, I fear some stuff might have been lost already.

Considering that you have the "table" there, it seems like it would be trivial to just do a mass replace and fill in the missing entries.

That would be trivial. However, through how many text conversions has this piece of text been through? How many of those might have converted some of these codes to actual characters or stripped some of them?

If we don't have anything else, we might do a mass replace. However, it cannot be said for certain that it's 1:1 what's in the DS's file.

Tauwasser

so yeah, I dumped my copy of SoulSilver a while ago

I could check and see if I can find the debug stuff and compare it to what's in the notes
(if that's what you guys are talking about)

Use Eevee's porigon-z for the redump.
