I can't blame Ghana for pulling those stunts. I do, however, blame FIFA and the refs. No calls to make Ghana hurry up and get the game moving, and not enough time put on for stoppage time. Unacceptable.

That said, the US made some mistakes and didn't capitalize on their opportunities. Good game, but not good enough.

Did you guy see the Germany - England match yesterday? It was pure awesome, all four German goals were very convincing. One Lampard goal was not given though, but England probably had that coming since '66.

Though I have to say, if you compare the last two games, the referees were way different.

In the 3rd place game Germany vs. Uruguay, he did nothing. He could have stayed at home and left the game running by itself, it would have made no difference.

Now, in the final game, he gave out yellow cards at every single opportunity. It's surprising only one player had to leave at the end, I would have expected more.

It seems as if the choice of referee makes up half the game.

Soccer as a whole feels remarkably arbitrary. Random amounts of time added on the end for no apparent reason (seriously, what? Apparently it's based off of substitutions/injuries but it seems to be completely at the judgement of the referee) and wasting time in this game is easier than ever, just fall over and pretend you hurt something.

Not to mention the various... faults of the refs. With a constantly running timer and no instant replays or ways to challenge anything, well...

Video replays is a MUST next world cup. Seriosly England could of came back if it was not for refs deicision not to call the second goal.

The main problem with video replays is that they seriously interfere with the flow of the game. Case in point: the England-Germany match, where the Germans would have lightning fast counterattacks, and these resulted in at least two of their four goals. Now, imagine if there was video replay. This would cause play to be halted while the refs made their decision, completely ruling out counterattacks. I'm with FIFA's old stance on this one. Don't fuck with the game.
