The Texas Republican Party gives a whole new meaning to the word conservative.
The GOP there has voted on a platform that would ban oral and anal sex. It also would give jail sentences to anyone who issues a marriage license to a same-sex couple (even though such licenses are already invalid in the state).
“We oppose the legalization of sodomy,” the platform says. “We demand that Congress exercise its authority granted by the U.S. Constitution to withhold jurisdiction from the federal courts from cases involving sodomy.”
The Lone Star state initially passed a law barring sodomy in 1860. Violators faced anywhere from five to 15 years in prison. The ban was overturned in 2003.
In addition, the platform says that homosexuality “tears at the fabric of society, contributes to the breakdown of the family unit and leads to the spread of dangerous communicable diseases.”
It also states that homosexuality must not be presented as an acceptable “alternative” lifestyle in public schools and “family” should not be redefined to include homosexual couples.
The 25-page proposal, presented last week as a guide for the state GOP over the next two years, includes other measures including outlawing “sexually oriented businesses” like strip clubs and banning “all pornography.”

I grew up in a situation where homosexuality was considered wrong, and homosexuals evil, by pretty much everyone I was surrounded by, and I absorbed it and was homophobic for years. It also made it very tough to come to terms with my own identity.
Some of these conservatives are getting ridiculous as of late. Like the idiot in Michigan who wants to make a priority of removing rights from transsexuals in his state and forcing all transgendered people to identify as their birth sex in many situations. And I'm like, why put all of that effort into discriminating against people? Sheesh. We're all human.

Ah, so you grew up with retards?
One of my friends has that same problem. Everyone of my friends is homophobic, and I'm not. So one of my friends came out to me because he couldn't do it to anybody else. His best friend is even homophobic. Thankfully, the best friend didn't tell anybody, but if he had, my friends life would be ruined. I even checked to see what would happen if my gay friend told people. A mutual friend said that if one of his friends turned out to be gay, he'd never talk to him again. So, essentially, my friend is fucked. Even his parents are homophobic and his brother probably is too.

Thankfully my family turned out to be open-minded (well, most of it), there's even a gay (married) couple in between my cousins and everyone in the family recognizes them as married and have no problem with it... Mom was the only one that almost went nuts when I told her I was gay but eh, she eventually got over it. She's still pissed at me for being an atheist but that's it
