This place is big. This place is way too big. I've pretty much resided in the hacking forums. I actually haven't done anything other than read the rules, post there and make my profile spiffy. So I figured I'd check out the other areas of Jul today.

Yet, there are much bigger message boards out there

I say, no reason to be intimidated. If places like Craziness Domain weird you out too much, try the more topical boards like Gaming and Computers/Technology. We don't bite. Usually.

I never had a problem with the population here, though it is probably the largest board I've ever been a part of. There are only maybe 30 or 40 regular posters, really.

And I'm one of those people that never ever posts in the hacking forums, where I feel like I would be out of my depth.

(I keep reading this thread's title in the tone of "Oh, Jul. What have you done now?!" *audience laughter* )

I have some advice for getting integrated with other parts of the board. If you try to read everything, you'll get overwhelmed. Thus, don't feel like you have to read every thread. If you find an interesting topic (that isn't old), read what others have posted in it and, if the thread didn't go off-topic, post your thoughts

I have mostly stayed away from forums that require actual knowledge and instead just socialize in a few. I've been meaning to branch out to the others for a while...

And yes, I'll agree that with thousands of topics to post in and countless posts you can read, it does get a little crazy

There are a few forums I never go into, just because they don't interest me. It's like a new town, though - once you've been there for a while and become familiar with a few places, it doesn't seem nearly as large anymore.

Try the Gaming, Computers and General boards as a start... there's also the Officer's Club for more serious discussions, Action McNews for debates and news stories, and the Signpost Maze for games. =)

I thought this place was huge too when I left the SM64 hacking section for a bit. I thought it was too huge so I hid in the SM64 hacking section
for another 2 years

It actually was when Zero One started getting past me in posts I started hanging out here (dang me and my side that hates to lose)
