I'm 22 years old. Two months ago I got my driver's license. Today, I got my first car.

It's a 1997 Buick Centra Supreme. Luxury car. Previously I was going to get a 70's Buick, however the Tag on the car would cost a fortune, and thus I went with another model.

Both of the cars were own by one man in my Fraternity. I chose the 1997 model for the money.

I bought just the model. No motor (Busted), no Transmission (Gone), no Radiator(Blown), and more. It was just an empty shell.

I got my job at Olive Garden in January. The worth in my job was well over $7,892.90. That is the period I worked for in that time. Six months.

In that time. I saved a shitload of money. Won a little money from the lottery, and did some side jobs here and there to pay for the bills.

Once I found this car. I dropped over five grand into rebuilding this vehicle.

The model came with it's own security system.

E- Everything here. I bought. VVV

The engine I bought came with it's own chip. To save on Gas.

The Radiator was from a Chevy S10 2010 model

The Transmission used from Ebay

The Alternator the best of it's kind. The best money can buy is all I can say

I can list this forever.

But needless to say. I own my first car, and it's now my baby.

1997 Buick Centra Supreme. Revived into 2010. And ready for everything I throw at it.

Today marks the day: "Pimpmap" is born.

Driving it I have had little problems. Mainly getting used to it. V8 Engine that goes 30 MPG, 42 MPG on HWY is pretty godamn beautiful. Sure, the model does not look good. But I am riding the best car in Cataula right now.

I love my new car. I will take this car with a 2010 model anyday.

HOWEVER! Now to the thread: I am still not quite used to driving at night. Do you drive? What do you drive? Have any qwirks about driving? Anything that pisses you off?

Just gonna start to practice driving soon. I hope it'll go well. Until then, I can't answer any other question

I also took Driving lessons when I was 20. $150 an hour with a three hour minimum. I took 10 hours worth back then so I could have super low Insurance rates.

Try $20 a month for my insurance. It's gonna pay off in a year.

It's just night driving bothers me. Some people are super fucking assholes with the Bright lights switch. I'm moderate with it. But if you fail to turn off bright lights? Consider you ass blinded at the last moment.

I too can be an asshole on the road if you are one.

While I never drive myself, I sure knows how annoying those guys are. It's impossible to see anything at all.
When I start driving I'll use the motto: Assume that every driver around you is an idiot.
That way I think I can avoid an accident.

My dad said it best: "There are a lot of fuckers on the road. You are the one driving. Don't let them drive you"

That is the main thing. Also; use your best judgement.

When someone is BLINDING YOU OH GOD WHAT THE FUCK, the best thing I do is slow down and pull over.

Other times it's me blinding them when they pass. See how they like it.

Nope, I don't drive.

I tried learning as a teenager, and I was always terrified to go even remotely fast. This was in broad daylight with almost no traffic. I might try again, I don't know, but right now I don't want the expense of a car.

I got my learner's when I was 16. My dad helped to me learn how to drive.

When I met my future hubby, I still wasn't driving much so he started to teach me as well.

My dad gave me his old car, a 1990 Grand Am LE when I was around 20.

Got a ticket for not having my license a few times.

Finally got my license when I was 21.

I really don't like to drive that much but I will if I have to. Especially don't like driving at night or in a heavy storm and/or rain shower.

Could be because before the age of 18, I was in about 6 different car accidents.

I also don't like driving on highways, around a lot of cars, next to a concrete wall during construction...

Being a passenger isn't easy for me either. At least it used to be. I would be so nervous in the car but I've just noticed that I've gotten better with this so-called fear. I'm less antsy in the car these days.

Since my job is so close, I ride my bike to work now. Sundays I will normally just drive myself to work though.

I waited until I moved from Florida back to Puerto Rico to get my licenses. I think in Florida you can get your permit at 16 and then wait a year for the license. I graduated HS two months after (And moved right after I graduated) I turned 17 so I felt it was a waste.

I don't remember when exactly I got my permit and license. Only a month wait between the two. Took 3 classes within that month. $25 per class. I think I have been driving since 2005 in this car.

Recently, I had to pay for my girl to get her permit, 3 classes and her license. Expensive for me since I don't work. Thankfully she passed on the first go. The dilema right now is getting a car. Her parents are useless so the car getting might fall to me as well.

I'm pretty comfortable with driving now and I've never had an accident. The key really is to assume that everyone around you is an asshole and an idiot, and where I live, that's usually true. Always give people their space to fuckup, and drive defensively and not offensively.

I never had a problem with night driving, but it did take me a while to feel comfortable on freeways. Feeling comfortable on the road comes with time. I think it took me about a year to feel perfectly fine with everything on the road. That came after having to drive in horrible icy winter conditions, and getting pulled over once for speeding. Never got a ticket though. The cops in my area don't give a rat's ass, and the only time I ever got pulled over was when I was out of town. They let me off because it was a first offense. Of course, I can always pull the same "first offense" card if it happens again since I don't have anything on record lol. Just make sure you know the limits of your car's maneuverability and don't push it by doing something stupid and you'll be fine.

I took my test less than a week ago and just got my drivers license in the mail The picture is absolutely horreneous To quote my father: "It can't be any worse than my picture with my balding hair, dorky glasses, and -- " To quote my sister: "Ahahahahaha! They had to crop your hair to make it fit!" You know how they tell you to not smile? I look... disturbing...

As for night driving, look at the paint strip on the right side of the road, not at the other driver's headlights. You'll get light spots in your peripheral vision, but you'll still know you're in your lane (and not off the road) if you keep the right-hand paint strip in the right place.

Merging onto freeways still freaks me out a little. At those speeds, if you're checking your mirrors to merge (2 mirrors plus blindspot) it takes about 1-2 seconds. If at that exact point in time the person in front of you brakes hard, you're done for. I've gotten more used to it though

I did pretty well on my driving test but the guy did say that I didn't stop long enough at the stop sign.

Y'know what sucks about driving tests?

You have to run over any animal who gets in the way.

Neither would I. I'd happily fail my test if it meant not killing something. On the plus side, the emergency stop test would be done.

It's an enigma
----------------------------------------------------
I've had my license since... 16 and a half or something like that. Whenever the earliest I could get it was. I am now 20 and still dont have a car to call my own.

I remember failing my driving test by one point the first time. I was kinda ticked at that. But I made sure to be anal about every detail the next time and passed with flying colors.

All in all though, when I do get the chance to drive I'm perfectly comfortable with it (except in busy parking lots or in stupid backed up traffic... at that point everyone acts like the sky is falling and turns on all switches to dumb )
