This thread is kind of like what you'd normally do in an English literature class; talk about it. However, there's a twist. I'm really teaching an English class for the next five or six weeks, so I figured it'd be interesting to have little discussions on Jul here about the short stories I'm having my students go over about when I assign the readings to the students.
While suggestions for my curriculum are appreciated, I already have things planned the way I want them, so no changes will be made.
The first story is An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge by Ambrose Bierce:

Additionally, this story was also made into a Twilight Zone episode back in the 60s. The video can be found on YouTube in three parts:
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
So, yes. Discussion! And it doesn't have to be literary here unless you want to make it literary.

One good suggestion: mix things up. I was always bored sitting in my Eng. Lit. class because it was nothing special. Just reading out of books and writing essays. Hours and hours of boredom.

Planning on it. Trust me, there's gonna be a lot of that in my class too, but I bring enough weird to the class that they're not going to mind. At least they better not.
Anyway, you get a chance to look at the story?
