Username, real name, nick name, whatever. How do people mangle it?

Most people spell "Terra" correctly, unless you count not capitalizing the T, which I don't really mind if that's your typing style on IRC and such. A lot of my older names turned into alphabet soup over time.

People tend to mangle my real name though. Maybe my voice sucks, but a lot of people hear "Taryn" as something else, usually "Tara" (which sounds like Terra to me anyway). Oddly enough, the guy who called me this morning got my first name right but screwed up my last name. Of course, he'd be going by the written information on a form.

People always screw up my last name (Badrick, by the way.)

"Badger? No. Badnick? No! Breadnick? NO! B-A-D-R-I-C-K!

...

Baldrick?"

It really pissed me off when teachers couldn't get it right.

Orlandu is almost always confused with Orlando (as Terra likes to point out ). Google's search always says, "Did you mean Orlando?" to which I emphatically say, "No! Just search for what I freaking typed in there!".

My real name is hard to screw up. Joseph is the common spelling, but I have seen Josef. And Joey is my "nickname" and thats not really spelled any other way.

Sometimes people leave out letters when writing 'Thoughtless'. That is about it.

As for my real name, rarely does someone say "Feliz' instead of 'Felix' but it has happened.

All the time. Probably more than people getting it right. Pronunciation is a whole different issue.

It's pretty hard to mess up a first name like mine, but when people see it paired with my last name, they stare a bit and ask how to pronounce/spell it. Really? Come on.

Yes.

How hard is to Anya, really. I've learn to let it go now.

Trying to find the right video if I can....

Blah, can't find it. Maybe I should just record that scene one day.

Here's a music video from the movie where I got the name from:

I'll give you a guess.

It's even more amusing to hear people attempt to pronounce it over Skype.

How is it pronounced anyway?

I usually say "He-rue" in my mind.

Speak louder, I can't Hiryuu!

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, neither the proper Japanese "h" nor "ry" sounds in that particular name are used in standard English.

Years ago, when he was still hiryuu_shoten_ha, I'd misread the initial part as "hiruyu".

I wouldn't be Bagel if people had not purposefully messed it up. I went by Bengal but people kept calling me Bagel anyway.

Bagel suits me just fine though.

On Jul, nobody typically messes my name up, but I've been called "Red Shift" at least once just about everywhere else I've ever been. Aside from that, most people seem to have no trouble pronouncing it, even if they're a little slow at it the first time.

Concerning my real name, it's practically the local equivalent of "John Smith", so I don't think I've ever heard anybody honestly pronounce it incorrectly. Every so often, though, somebody spells it wrong. (Both my first and my last name seem equally susceptible to this, for some reason.)

Yeah, I've had my fair share of it, but fully expect it with a name like this

Let's not even get into the pronunciation. I remember quite a few threads that focused on that.

"Schala" sometimes gets mispronounced, using the wrong "a" sound... and it gets misspelled "Shala" or "Scala" sometimes. =/

Oh, do they ever. ;__; Kyagaru, Kygaru, Kyaragu, Kyagru, Kyragu...

I know I'm asking for it for having a name that's essentially just random letters, though... it's part of why I prefer the shortened form of my username these days. D:

Thankfully my real name is pretty generic, so nobody ever really messes it up that badly.
