Looks interesting, but I think I'll pass on seeing this in theaters. I never was a big Smurfs fan. I can wait for it on Blu-ray and just rent it.

For now Smurfs models look nice, i think.
When i read about this, i thought special effects would be horrible. I wonder how this will come, haha.

I am totally passing on this.

I have a feeling this will follow the Alvin and the Chipmunks mold of tired cliched jokes and stupid dance numbers. God forbid if they actually try something else.

Maybe I'll end up seeing it, maybe not. Depends if it turns out to be good.

I'm waiting for a trailer that does not yell out "IN THREE DEEE" and shoves a big "in 3D" logo in your face. So far the only film IN THREE DEE that I have watched that used it for something worthwhile was avatar. The others have just used it for misc stuff that really did not make the experience any better. ;

Thats because it is the only feature film that was actually filmed with 3D cameras. All of these other 3D ones are filmed conventionally and remastered as 3D which can work if done correctly, but still not as good. 3D animated movies are ok because they can be rendered in 3D from the start. But I doubt this is being filmed in 3D from the sheer cost.

No. No no no no no no no no no.

Smurfs do not belong in New York City. Hell, they don't belong in this f*cking time period.

I want to find whoever greenlit this abomination and slam their face into a concrete block for a few hours.

This is pretty much my exact reaction.

Sure, I'm all fine with them being in THREEEEEEEEEE DEEEEEEEEEE.

But keep them where they belong.

Same director as the Scooby Doo duo of movies, go figure the weird plot.

I was a bit sadden to see that they placed the Smurfs in our own time and location.

I can understand why, though. This is aimed at a younger crowd and I don't think kids younger than 12-13 would relate to a middle-ages setting.

I fear this exact thing. Excusable if it's just the standard kid's film song-and dance number, but pop numbers will make me want to nuke all of Hollywood.

Have fun in Hollywood, dude, where the awesome gets raped into being WTF.

Ronald Fisher: Beer and pussy. That's all I need.
Sean Smith: We gotta find ourselves a Smurfette.
Ronald Fisher: Smurfette?
Sean Smith: Yeah, not some tight-ass Middlesex chick, right? Like this cute little blonde that will get down and dirty with the guys. Like Smurfette does.
Donnie: Smurfette doesn't fuck.
Sean Smith: That's bullshit. Smurfette fucks all the other Smurfs. Why do you think Papa Smurf made her? Because all the other Smurfs were getting too horny.
Ronald Fisher: No, no, no, not Vanity. I heard he was a homosexual.
Sean Smith: Okay, then, you know what? She fucks them and Vanity watches. Okay?
Ronald Fisher: What about Papa Smurf? I mean, he must get in on all the action.
Sean Smith: Yeah, what he does, he films the gang-bang, and he beats off to the tape.
Donnie: [shouts] First of all, Papa Smurf didn't create Smurfette. Gargamel did. She was sent in as Gargamel's evil spy with the intention of destroying the Smurf village. But the overwhelming goodness of the Smurf way of life transformed her. And as for the whole gang-bang scenario, it just couldn't happen. Smurfs are asexual. They don't even have... reproductive organs under those little, white pants. It's just so illogical, you know, about being a Smurf. You know, what's the point of living... if you don't have a dick?
Ronald Fisher: [pause] Dammit, Donnie. Why you gotta get all smart on us?

Can we just bomb Hollywood? Please?
Pixar isn't in that area, right?
And we can keep people like James Cameron who are helping with the oil disaster.
Just...
Shit like this needs to die.

Yes! It's like placing Aladdin in the afghanistan's war! It's like placing How To Train Your Dragon in Sonic the Hedgehog world! It's like placing Rapunzel in Metropolis! It's like put King arthur as Mafia!
But think that Raja Gosness is director of all critical unsuccesful movie! Same director of Home alone 3! Same of Beverly Hills Chiuaua (who told that??? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA?) Same of Scooby Doo movies (they were funny to watch, but... well, as quality is not the best)! What would you expect??? Really, if i would be known as director of unsuccesful movies i would get over it (i dunno, with all money they earn...).
Gasp, sell this movie to a better company!!! D:

Time for our world to get smurfed in THREEE DEEEE!
(Lunaria's post cracked me up. I know that it's purpose wasn't the effect it had on me.)

I never really watched the original, but this seems better than Alvin and the Chipmunks.
Or it may be the same.
