Here's the deal: Goodbye threads are meant for serious departures. The last truly good goodbye thread I have seen on this board occurred almost two years ago (as of 2006), when Weasel, a full moderator that most of you people probably don't remember, went off to take care of real life and was actually never seen again because he actually LEFT THE BOARD TO GO TO ANOTHER COUNTRY.

If you are not dying or leaving your home for an extended period of time with no chance whatsoever of it backfiring and you staying where you are (Shyguy), and this departure is due to a major life change that will inevitably make you into a different or better person, you do not make a goodbye thread.

If you feel you are not wanted around here, then you probably are not wanted around here enough where a goodbye thread from you would probably serve no purpose other than spam.

And speaking of spam, spam is defined in the old FAQ as making "A thread that doesn't have any real meaning". Goodbye threads, when compared to all of the rest of the content on this board, be they jokes or be they serious departures or attempts at such, have no meaning. Congratulations, your anonymous identity on a ROM Hacking message board is compromising itself. You're a fucking hero. Just like Weasel. Except for the part where he's a hero and you're using the internet.

From here on in, unless you fulfill the above requirements, goodbye thread = pain.

You could adblock it in Firefox. I don't because I don't really find it annoying (you do get used to it, eventually...)
