I never liked the Personalized Search, and I remember specifically having to turn it off. Why do companies think they need all this information about people?

So you have to have an account to disable the image? It's not cookie-based? Assuming this isn't just an utter lie, it's still not a good sign. Snooping, hardly, but it's a step into the "annoy people into registering for no good reason" trend that many annoying/untrustworthy sites use.
