Yeah, a lot of Seattleites are transplants, as I'm quickly finding out. Back in Detroit, most people were either native to Michigan (although often from a rural part of Michigan), descended from older immigrants from the South (especially Kentucky and Georgia), or from the Middle East or South Asia. Detroit isn't exactly an attractive city for people to move to.

I get that a lot about being born and still living in Florida.

I'm... maybe 500-550 miles from where I was born? Live in Hampton, Virginia, born in Stoughton, Massachusetts (US for both).

Albany doesn't seem to be a very popular place to move either, since most of the people I've spoken to have lived in the Albany area for their whole lives... but it's not as bad as Detroit, at least. =P

About two hours.

Alternatively, almost 20 years from it.

Right now, I'm about a mile from where I was born and 5 miles from my first home. Both of which are 16 years away

I've lived in the same place for my entire life, that's going to change in a couple of months though when I move into residence at University. It's going to be really weird, both the part about living in a completely new place and also the fact that I'm going to be living alone .

Yeah, I always moved around a lot as a kid, because my dad was in the US Air Force, so I never really tied roots to a single place. Living alone for the first time at 18 was a bit scary. I'd constantly have dreams of people breaking into my apartment.

Dad is in Army. We move around a lot. Born in Texas and then moved to Germany (sister was born there). Next was New York, then Kansas and Nebraska (brother born there). I spent the most time in Massachusetts (6 years), and now I'm here in Virginia. So, which distance do you want me to measure?
Texas to Virginia is apparently 1,199 miles.

I'm a few miles away from the hospital, and in the same house I grew up in.

Kind of like my family, but we were missionaries. Born in Florida, my mom remarried when I was 8. We went to Oklahoma, then Michigan, then Puerto Rico, then back to Oklahoma, Mexico, Nevada, Utah, Nevada, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Nevada, Florida, Nevada.

Currently I live not even a mile from where the hospital I was born at used to be (it got torn down recently.)

In a month exactly, I'm moving about 30 miles to be closer to work (and to finally move the fsck out of my parents home.)
