Yep, it's still on 7... along with town and flourish. (onestop's the really good one in XP and beyond - the other two are either okay (flourish) or you'll crack up laughing every single time you hear them (town).)
Of course, 7 also has remade versions of older sounds (not the same ones from 98 to XP), and even a few new sound schemes. Personally, I've used the Cityscape theme since installing 7. Even backported it to XP once when I wasn't sure I was ready to throw 7 on the netbook.

I usually turn off my system sounds, since they often get in the way of recording videos or music, or when I'm playing a game or some music, and I found them fairly needless. =P

IIRC, in Windows 3.1, Chip's Challenge uses CANYON.MID for the ending music... it doesn't do it on later Windows versions unless you put CANYON.MID in the Windows directory (instead of the Media directory, which is default on 95/98/2000). =P
And PASSPORT.MID is in reference to a defunct software company, Passport Designs, Inc.
