Radiohead urging new, old artists not to (re)sign with labels

Raise your hand if this sentiment is a surprise to you. I mean, sue 'em all isn't exactly a great way to build customer loyalty...

Radiohead have said before that they made more on their last album by letting fans pay what they wanted (even nothing) than they did from all of their previous albums combined that were released by a record company...
I this business model. The recent Humble Indie Bundle (of computer games) did the same thing, and they brought in $1.1 million, $340K of which went straight to charities.

Of course, recording industry executives loathe this model because they don't fit into it anywhere.

Those executives are only mad because they don't actually do much to begin with and don't have any skills or talents to get another job!

The music industry will never die, it will just become reinvented and cool again.

It might actually be time for a chance for a bunch of little small labels to do their own promotions and stuff and try and make some money. I kinda see that happening truthfully. It'll become more personable instead of having bigwigs with money and want the same damn cookie-cutter bullshit.

Nah, the old labels will not die, just slowly become irrelevant over the course of decades. They can always sue their way to survival.
