Paulguy's Post configuration
Something bigger than a blackberry with a keyboard would probably be more useful for news media or a blogger who's out on the road and needs something smaller than a laptop, so you get thumb typing where ever but not horribly cramped and not on a touch screen.

This is pretty much for someone with a lot of money and little sense.

The proof of concept IS good, though. I'm all for funky hacks like this.

Another odd use for an iPad...

Spending all that money on a glorified emulator and controller would be dumb, sure, but if you, or two of you together, already have the hardware... My stepmom has an iPad, my dad has an iPod Touch; dunno if Touch can be used for that (I really don't pay attention to the latest iCrud), but I'm sure it's not an unusual situation.

Still, this has numerous flaws: Doesn't feel like a gamepad (tactile feedback is very important to video games), risk of dropping your expensive controller, risk of losing a life because a phone call interrupted your input, etc. I'll just stick to a USB gamepad on an LCD monitor (or, for newer consoles with component output, the real thing on an LCD monitor). I my gamepad.

Why spend over $1000 on a Scrabble game or an emulator and controller when you can just download the emulator and some games or buy a Scrabble game for like $10 at Kmart? =P

I wouldn't want to do something like this, definitely...
