My friend's roommate has got to be the most moronic pile of bio-sludge I have ever seen. He claims that freezing cheese helps to preserve it. Yet he lets perishables like lettuce and fruits sit in grocery bags on the floor. Hearing this was just so horrendously idiotic that I had to argue with him for an hour. I gave up when he said he didn't believe in the concept of moisture...Who the hell doesn't believe in MOISTURE!?!

To be fair, most fruits does not really need to be keept cold as they can stay good for quite some time...

Fruits I can see leaving about, as we leave out apples and bananas and oranges all the time and they're fine, but I believe you need to keep lettuce cool.

And not believing in moisture? He should visit Florida.

Leaving avocados out is a bad idea, too. They and lettuce brown really quickly in warm air. Obviously the same goes for guacamole.

Yeah, Florida is the land of humidity. Oklahoma is pretty humid, too. Not as bad, but hotter air temp + humid = worse.

I know that a lot of fruits don't require refrigeration, but he is arguing that no fruits or veggies require refrigeration. Sorry I should have been a bit more clear. This is also the guy that gives 15 minute lectures on why you need to divert the water stream in the shower so it doesn't waste soap as it lays in the soap dish.

Its not lecture worthy, but this may be true. Since the soap will deteriorate from the water flow. Thats why I use body wash in a bottle.

I prefer liquid soap as well (and hand sanitizer, but not for taking showers), but most hotels and such in the USA only give you bar soap for some reason. In Europe (at least the places in Germany and France where we stayed), they provided liquid soap.

And not believing in moisture? That sounds like not believing in gravity and expecting to therefore have the ability to float in the air.
