Yeah, it's a system of naming just North American time zones. I think Europe has something similar with CET/EET etc.

Basically, including some cities and areas as a frame of reference:
AST/Atlantic = GMT-4 (Halifax, Puerto Rico)
EST/Eastern = GMT-5 (New York, Montréal, Toronto, Philadelphia, Miami, DC, Detroit)
CST/Central = GMT-6 (Chicago, St. Louis, New Orleans)
MST/Mountain = GMT-7 (Denver, Calgary, Phoenix)
PST/Pacific = GMT-8 (Vancouver, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas)

Plus some less populated ones (Newfoundland GMT-3.5, Alaska GMT-9, Hawaii and part of Alaska GMT-10).

No Party Affiliation

When I first signed up for my voter's card, my ex told me to put it as democrat because republicans are evil.

Fast forward and I end up marrying one and his family is republican. Nowadays they're more conservative because their own party is pissing them off.

I'm not into politics and I could care less, so being NPA makes the most sense to me.

I signed up as independent, although I never vote Republican. My parents tended to fall in between the parties and basically said independent is good because one might want to vote for either party (although my mom has been drifting leftward), but I found myself to be extremely left-wing and I haven't found a single agreeable Republican politician yet.

In Washington I might just register as Democratic.

I'm agreeable and republic... but I don't run for office. I put republican because I agree with some of the core values on the right side (pro-life, mainly). But every party has their nut jobs that give them a bad image, and the right has just a few more of them.

Yeah, by "Republican" I meant "Republican politician running for office"

Michigan tends to vote Democratic for various reasons but is socially conservative, actually. Basically, there are a lot of Blacks who think that all Republicans are White supremacists and won't vote for them, and labour unions are big in Michigan, and so on. But people tend to be pro-life, opposed to LGBT rights, and extremely religious in much of the state.

I'm not registered with any party... although I typically vote for whoever I feel like, and who I think will do the best job for that particular office.

Really? That seems a like an.. unfit place, meant more for discussion of specific topics, rather than larger ideological ideas. I think we have the user base for it; but I guess if I ever want to get down in a arguement, I can take it to the Officer's Club? That doesn't seem quite right either, a place more for personal problems..

It's not really pending, but I'd like to see how much activity a forum meant just for debating would collect.

I'm not sure if a debate forum would be necessary. They only break out in spurts with certain news topics in the news forum. Having a debate one would make it almost redundant.

Went over to my parents' last night, had dinner and then went to the Red Mango. Its a frozen yogurt place, but they use real yogurt. Not that fake stuff made to taste like ice cream. Its really good. Got back too late to finish up taking #1 on the JCS.
