Clicking the ad doesn't pay more; honestly, click ads that interest you (like the one that came up, the book of which I am now purchasing because it looks absolutely hilarious)

Hey, now we're getting to where the ads actually cost money.

We're going on up! :3

Indeed I can. (It was actually the "ad_display" that got it blocked by a generic filter... )

Eh, graphical ads are annoying, but it's relevant.

It's up to 5 cents.

Better get them now while they're cheap.

Eh, graphical ads are annoying, but it's relevant.

The most you'll see is animated GIF ads, and even then any particularly egregious ads (i.e. rapid flashing or annoying) can be removed. Basically, ask me to block it before you block it.

As for Hiryuu: It's been going up. From $0.01 (early AM, advertising a book I ended up buying), steadily up to about $0.06 (which expired and went back down). There are $0.02 ads running for Europe and International too, which is pretty neat (you can see them by clicking the link and checking them out).

As for the ads, yes, most of them are pretty relevant. Generally webcomics so far, though all the ones I've looked at are actually funny (and a few people here actually read). Cool beans.

...

Honestly, I really think the best part about the system is that people who advertise on your site actually have some level of interest in it/think that the site will like their content. This usually means a much better set of ads, leading to a better sense of "the website behind this probably won't suck/will be pretty cool", which is really beneficial for everyone involved.

... Though again, I'd like to stress that clicking for the sake of clicking doesn't do anything. Click if you're interested in what's behind the ad. Don't if you aren't. Clicks don't mean money; being active and considering the ads does.

Best advice I can give, really. (Also, this might be a decent source of funds for any sort of giveaways/bonuses that end up happening.)

2 comic strip ads so far. I typically don't click out from any ads since I usually know what I want to buy and where to buy it from. But since these are more specific to the content of this site, I will keep an eye out for anything interesting.

I like these ads.

Yeah, I definitely approve of the model this system uses, where ads are encouraged not to annoy and to be relevant to the place they're displayed.

Is there a way to specify a particular one, or just describe them? All I've seen so far is Tyty's, but I don't doubt an annoyance will slip in here and there.

Or hell, does it have a system for individual easily-annoyed viewers to block individual ads and/or types of ad while allowing the others? Couldn't get much nicer than that. Even just having the image's filename in the URL so you can AdBlock "ads/annoyingstupidbanner.jpg" or "ads/*.gif" without blocking everything.

Do they rotate after a specific amount of time? Seems like the same one is up for a while, then when I come back it's changed and that one is up for a while.

I'm curious about this too. I think it stays up for a few minutes, then switches. I don't know what the actual times are, though.

They don't rotate. The ad with the highest bid at the moment is displayed.

Interesting. So does it stay up until someone bids higher or do you allot a certain amount of time when you bid?

Both, actually. You set up your maximum bid and how long you want the ad to stay up.

So the higher the price, the higher our popularity basically. Makes sense, I suppose. Kind of explains the $0 that appears every so often too. (Just...don't use it for communication.)

Can we have a bar on the bottom that says Ad Revenue or some such shit? I would like to see that thing go rise.

Uh... I'd talk about it more subtly... but what is up with the dating site ad that's been showing up lately?

That's just who has the bid on Europe's site, I guess. It varies and (I'd imagine) would probably vanish if we had something worth more than 0

In case anybody is curious, we have exactly $0.03159 right now.
