I've never been to Sweden, obviously. But I have been to Ikea and I have a theory that the concept for both Sweden and Ikea were part of some brilliant MBA student's thesis.

"But I've been to Sweden" you say. Well...you THINK you've been to Sweden.

"What about the hockey team?" you ask. Good question. Mats Sundin and all those "Swedish" hockey players...Ikea employees.

I mean seriously...have you seen the names for things at Ikea? They want us to believe that it is a real language.

LACK = TV bench
ROGER = chair of some sort
BILLY = bookcase

Yeah...how about these words: FAKE! PHONY! BOGUS!

Ever wonder why "Swedes" speak English so clearly? It is becoming obvious, isn't it?

What about "Swedish" Meatballs? Everyone knows the Italians invented meatballs. And Italy, by the way, is a real place.

Make sure you let the world know that you're no longer going to be duped by what is, admittedly, a brilliant marketing scheme!

Rykä shoes, anyone? Although I think those are Finnish and not Swedish...

Finland is awesome, and you have to remember that their language is neither Germanic nor Slavic. (It's actually more closely related to Estonian and even Hungarian than Swedish or Russian. =P)

You see, Lunamon, Sweden is not only a country, it is the only country in the entire world!

Sweden actually owns the entire planet, and every other country out there is just a cover-up, including what most people think Sweden is. The reason Sweden seems like this is because it's actually the capital of the world, so many of its residents know of this conspiracy and it has some strange results on the country and it's so-called history.

Also: Australia was buried under a landfill in 1999. The current "Australia" is located on a terraformed section of Mars.

I'd give some supporting evidence for these claims, but I don't want to bore you with the details.

Switzerland

Reminds me of King's Quest I and its cheese, which the game names as "Swiss cheese". Thing is, the KQ games are generally considered to have taken place on a non-Earth world, which by extension also wouldn't have a Switzerland

North Dakota is also a non-existant place. True story.

My mom actually lived in Minot, North Dakota, for a while. My grandma absolutely hated it, and I don't think my mom liked it either.

I've heard that wind chills there get to like -50°F.

I don't have any IKEA furniture from Sweden... although one of the days, I might travel to New Jersey since there's an IKEA store in Bergen County. =D

I haven't a clue where the nearest IKEA is in Maine, if there even is one in the state.

The one here is always packed with people.

Might get a TV/bookcase from them one of these days.

They don't have IKEA here in Vegas. But when we visited my brother and his wife in New York, they made sure we visited their big store. It was interesting, a lot of the ideas were cool. I'd still rather pay $100 for a house full of furniture from yard sales and 2nd hand stores. But some people like new.

I agree. Most everything I have has been previously owned. It just makes more sense that way.

I once bought an adorable, tailored French dress for $15. I didn't recognize the brand, but everyone who did told me they sell for hundreds of dollars, normally.

I know that if/when I buy a car, it's going to be used. They say a new car loses about 3/4 of its value the moment you buy it. I don't want to invest in a new car, only to have most of its resale value disappear. I just have to make sure the car didn't get sold back because of performance problems.

If I had a new apartment and some money to spare, I would donate some cash to them because they have small stuff that helps with storage space.
