Is it still going to have the ugly-ass battle graphics of Shadow Dragon? What about the crap gameplay that actually had less functionality than the GBA games?

I don't care if it's a remake. If a game in the same series last generation had better graphics, a better story, and better mechanics, you're doing something wrong. It's the only US Fire Emblem game I was disappointed in.

Being able to choose your hero's class is interesting, and the possibilities are pretty large assuming they actually take advantage of it. Why they didn't do this to a new title instead of just remaking shit, I'll never know.

I loved Fire Emblem 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10, though. 6 is bastardly hard, and Micaiah is a goddamned idiot, but the games in general are enjoyable. Intelligent Systems just can't seem to do remakes. They emulate the same shitty mechanics of the originals, instead of updating with the times. No idea why they decided to do the sinfully ugly battle art, though. More detailed versions of the GBA ones would have been perfect.
