I'm surprised there was no mention of this by now. It's out in June. Here's a few tidbits.

Only two characters I can think of are Asagi, who will never get her own game, and the one Cornet-like (Rhapsody) girl from Princess Antiphona. Unfortunately, no plans are being made to localize that title and it's not a Disgaea title either.
Though it IS an extension of Marl's Kingdom (which started with Rhapsody) which Disgaea was a later entry into as its own side deal. That's where you get Marjoly from every time you play a Disgaea title (antagonist of Rhapsody). |

I'm having trouble getting into the Disgaea series. It was fun until I realized, "oh, shit, I gotta grind. and I mean, REALLY grind!"

Any pointers for making the experience more fun? Disgaea 1 is still sitting on my shelf and is being neglected

All the Disgaea 1-3 all have their certain 'power level' spots. It's just a matter of getting used to the system and figure it out from there. At the start of the game, you're really not going to find that outside of the item world and you don't really get any level spots until towards the end of the main story or until you unlock Cave of Ordeals, specifically stage 3.
The only grind that's really necessary is post-game and maybe a little bit towards the end. Honestly, getting your weapons/defenses up in the item world is what makes the game a heck of a lot more easier for a lot of people. The quicker you jump on that, the better. Even 10 levels on an item can double its potential. |

So I did buy the game. I pre-ordered it but hadn't had a chance to pick it up until earlier today. Now to find my PSP.

This game is great.
The focus is entirely on the storyline, which is great for me because I suck at the SRPG portion of the equation.
And boy, is it HILARIOUS!

I got to that last night and laughed my ass off. Sometimes I think that Thursday has the most personality out of some of the other characters, but that's kind of a hard thing to decide. They all ooze with awesome. XD
