If this computer's LEDs weren't so bright and the fans so loud, I would leave this computer on at all times, honestly.

But, on my old computer, my max uptime was >6 months, on Vista even.

I guess if you're running a server off of your computer, you'd want to leave it on 24/7. Other than that and the IRC thing that Kassad mentioned, I don't know.

Right, that too.

I guess I'm just a stickler with energy consumption.

I always turn my PC off at night. I really don't have a reason to keep it on, even though the hum doesn't bother me so much. :\

Since I run a server 24/7, I have to leave my computer on... it's more my air conditioner that drives me crazy, so I have to turn it off at night because it's loud. =/

I keep my machines and air conditioner on at night.

The light and noise doesn't bother me one bit - I still sleep quite well. My G4's power light has actually saved me from stumbling over things a few times, too.

I need noise to sleep ... even in the coldest day of winter I'll turn on the fan and point it somewhere it won't hit me just to hear the noise

I enjoy how the hum of my computer's cooling fan luls me to sleep (In addition to my loud-as-hell a/c, which surprisingly doesn't wake me up in the night. )

So, white noise is awesome.

My computer is incredibly quiet. Just the soft whir of the cooling fan is audible, with the exception of the DVD drives trying to read a CD or something whenever something just so happens to be in there.

My laptop is almost completely quiet. If there is any other background noise you can't hear it at all. My PC before this (and just about all of them) have been fairly loud from the video card fan. Not quite wind tunnel loud but they could be heard over a TV on low volume.

My broken computer was pretty quiet, except when the CPU fan kicked into high gear. (Even then, it was still quiet.)

Now my eMac is quieter. Possibly because it doesn't have enough cooling fans in it.

You say it's nonsensical. My 1280x1024 LCD monitor disagrees. (I love my monitor.)

When I used to have Progress Through Processors on my computer, I'd leave it up all night so it could do work.

I've killed that program now, so I really don't need to keep it on constantly.
