FFVII. I was late to the RPG party.

Most pointless levels ever?

Of course, there's the trick of meeting a guru, spending all your "golds", dying, then coming back to life at the guru with more money. Also, when your level increases past certain points, the wing boots actually last for less time. Liek wtf?

My first RPG was Suikoden for the PSX. I never really had any other RPGs for SNES or Sega, and about the only games I had for the NES was the Mario series. Didn't play the older Zeldas til I got the roms. Zelda: Ocarina of Time was probably my second, although pokemon was fitted in there some how... can't quite remember.....

I am going to loosely interpret the topic and share the first RPG that I enjoyed, Golden Sun. I truly believe that this game was as close as a game will get to perfection.

First RPG I played was Ultima VIII, which came along my first computer. Since I didn't understand much of the english language, I was stuck after a few hours in the huge worlds of the game. Still, it was fun to random attack people/guards and exploring the land. Haven't seen a game with so much to explore/read/attack in a while ...

On the SNES, pretty much the only RPGs I played were Chrono Trigger and Mario RPG. By the way, recently I played Final Fantasy VII (yeah, I'm that behind in gaming ), which was great .

*hasn't played FF7*

I have a PS1 emulator, but FF7 is so expensive and ROMs (disk images?) seem to be hard to find for it Of course, my friend keeps telling me how great it is

My first RPG game which I got and beat was Super Mario RPG Legend of the seven stars.

Ultima... 4, I think. Quest of the Avatar. I was 8, I believe.

I never really got far, though.

If you have a PS3 or PSP, it's only $20 on the PlayStation Network.

Holy bump.

Nope, I don't really buy consoles, I play everything (including emulated games) on PCs these days. The exception are the handhelds, but I don't really want to plonk down a lot of money on a PSP while I have no job.

I wanna say it was Lagoon for SNES, but that's just more the earliest one I can remember.

If that doesn't count, um...Dragon Warrior, I think.

I'm honestly quite surprised that I don't actually remember what my first RPG was.

Phantasy Star for the Sega Master System... I got it for Christmas in 1989, along with Alex Kidd in Miracle World. Those were my first two video games... although Master System games started to become rare in stores by 1992, but I got a Sega Genesis by then, with Sonic 1 and Phantasy Star II, among other games. =D

Since I never got to reply when this was originally posted:

Mine was Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. I played that before I played 4 (FF2 in america) on the SNES.

Hmm, I think it was Paper Mario actually. Incidentally I haven't been particularly interested in many other RPG games other than Mario ones.
