DRM is stupid anyway... and it's usually cracked rather quickly (look at stuff like DVD CSS and Blu-ray AACS, especially with Blu-rays... you can brute-force the entire range of 128-bit integers in a matter of hours or even minutes on a relatively modern machine =P)
I've never really been royally screwed over by DRM myself, but I don't really use my computer for games that much... and this xkcd comic comes to mind about how DRM causes people to be "criminals" either way. =) ____________________ YouTube • DeviantArt Windows 98 forever! |

It's quite true, and a wonder why not more execs think that way. |

| This.
If people are going to pirate stuff, they're going to pirate it. It's just an inevitability. Nice to know that some companies are seeing it this way. |

| They say this at the same time as killing LAN play and requiring Battlenet logins :/
Not saying it's a 'bad' thing, just that it isn't that clear cut. Words =/= Actions. |

Rena I had one (1) message in Discord deleted and proceeded to make a huge, huge mess about how it was a violation of free speech and how moderators are supposed to be spam janitors and nobody should have the right to tell me not to talk about school shootings Level: 135 Posts: 3296/5390 EXP: 29077169 For next: 257836 Since: 07-22-07 Pronouns: he/him/whatever From: RSP Segment 6 Since last post: 342 days Last activity: 342 days |

06-04-10 08:05:19 AM Post #3296 Originally posted by Sukasa Hmm. Piracy will never stop (there will always be those who just want it for free), but it'll come down to what should be a reasonable level when the product becomes worth the price. Right now, with so many DRM schemes a pirated copy is better even than a free legit copy. ____________________ /!\ CANADIANS! READ! /!\ why not? |
