You know I have yet to beat Cross Edge. All that grinding did me good enough. Fuck.
Disgaea has a good grind. To me, Cross Edge was just overbearing. ____________________ __________________________________

I haven't finished Cross Edge either.
Because I was tired of looking at a darn guy to get the true ending, especially when people weren't sure what was right and what was wrong.
At least there's nothing to worry about with Agarest War (I hope?) |

True Ending does exist in Agarest. I will let you know that now...and Ace and I finished up Cross Edge (not in its entirety) some time last year. I've never completely finished it, however, because the very end of it required you to get to around L900 with some supreme gear.
I'm not sure if it will be as difficult to obtain was Cross Edge, but it's likely. With Cross Edge there really wasn't a set way of figuring things out at all. You HAD to have some sort of a manual help you through that. Agarest seems a little less to figure out, though, since 'EVENT' is clearly displayed when you have one at any given time. Cross Edge really wasn't like that and you had to literally search for events which was a pain in the ass. The overworld map here is a little bit different and a heck of a lot easier to navigate as well.
Cross Edge is a challenge that you will want only if you want it. Once you get through a run of it, the New Game+'s to figure everything out become much easier once you figure the system out. It's a matter of doing, though, and a lot of people really don't want to mess with it for completionist's sake (I don't blame them).
In Agarest so far, though, I haven't had to grind. If you recall the ability to get VIT+15, STR+15 skills, etc. in Cross Edge, they exist here. Same synth method too.
So if you've played Cross Edge, chances are you'll be right at home with Agarest, both with the system and the difficulty. |

Might as well skip this one out then. I know I shitposted a lot in this thread: But I had a small interest in this game.
I just really hate grinding. Disgaea I can get away with; Cross Edge was really pushing it. ____________________ __________________________________

| Well, as I said, this one I haven't had to grind at all. However, I've had times where I would wipe (badly, even) only to come back without grinding on the same battle and win a match in three turns because I figured it out. |

That was another thing with Cross Edge though. I may have been completely retarded or something. But I just did not get the system right.
Perhaps I need to re-pay a visit to the game or something. I took your advice and did not spend a single point on my playthrough (DLC). So maybe I can still reach out and grasp this game.

So I have the game (The REally Naughty Limited Edition btw) and I'm playing on Hard.
Definitely plays like Cross Edge, but right now I'd say this game feels like Soul Nomad, for some reason (might be for this song this sounds an awful lot like uhhhh, crap don't remember the name of the song)
I'm not too far in (haven't fought a real boss, I guess) but I haven't had too much problem, except for that time when I got attacked by 6 monsters at twice my level, when I only have three party members (my SP skyrocketed in this fight and I somehow made it out alive) |

I wouldn't necessarily think it as Soul Nomad, since we're not dealing with Squads all that much.
Lot of team attacking though. Lot, lot, lot of it. |

Edited previous post.
And it's not some much the battles, but just the overall feel of the game (the world map, towns, the music, okay I lied battles to some point).
Not that it's a bad thing.
Of course, I'm not far enough to really say, there some things I haven't seen.
But yeah, going around Overkilling crap because it's fun. |

You'll probably want to continue with the overkills. It'll help out later when it comes to alchemy.
If at all possible, stock up on life fragments. You'll need them because you will almost surely die horribly at some point in the early game. That 30 SP to all upon character death really helps when you're getting your ass beat. 2 deaths and everyone has a super. Then you can resurrect and go apeshit. Not to mention that the lead (Leonhardt) has a specific skill he'll get later that improves all stats DRAMATICALLY if he's 25% HP or less. One pumped, 12-panel super will annihilate practically anything. |

Already had the Overkill habit from Cross Edge.
I mean, you had to do it even on bosses if you wanted the good stuff. |

Oh you'll definitely want to do it on bosses here, especially in the early game.
Although, admittedly, it's a lot easier to do here. |

They aren't taking long to throw the 9999 HP bosses around now...I'm having trouble coming close to overkilling any of them...especially when they heal 1199 HP per turn.
Still in 2nd gen. |
