Best Buy advertising higher than regular prices as sales?

This is why I do not shop at Best Buy for anything that costs more than $40. They are a rip off, even if not pseudo-advertising a price as a sale. When we bought a netbook for my wife, we went to Best Buy to check them out. The one she wanted was $329 so I checked Newegg.com and found the exact same model for $299.

Now I only buy DVDs or small electronics from there if I'm in a pinch and need it fast. Otherwise I buy from Newegg.com or Tigerdirect.com

They recently opened an Ultimate Electronics store in my area (I think the grand opening was actually yesterday, but I missed it =/), and I still have yet to check it out... are they any good? I'd really appreciate an alternative to Best Buy. =/

I think most of them closed shop here in Las Vegas, but there may be 1 or 2 open. Best Buy is king around here, and Frys. But they only have 1 mega store downtown.

From what I remember of UE they were competitively priced with Best Buy so I would bet they are on par with pricing. They may not have the same antics of upping the price, but the best deals are still online.

Best Buy had a 50 ft Ethernet cord that cost $40. I dunno what was so "Special" about it, but I found one twice that size on newegg for about $12.

Ever since then I never shopped at Best Buy again. I always look at Newegg or amazon for my purchases. Sure I have to wait a little while to get the product; patience is a virtue.

Generally, any cable you find is going to be horribly overpriced. That's what they do.

See HDMI cable I got for $3 versus one in stores for like $15. The markups on those things is just insane.

Oh god this.

512MB DDR1 PC2700 RAM for nearly $50? I laughed when I compared that to OWC's $20 - I could literally max out my machine and actually save ten dollars.

Ethernet cables are hilarious too. Bought a 12-foot bit of it from a flea market for $3, where the same costs... who the hell knows how much?

It's just frustrating that I often end up having to get small shit there because I don't have a way to pay for it online.

systems accept them as a credit card
