Had the same situation as Hiryuu, only I got him on the second run-through, iirc. Haven't even bothered to try and get Ho-oh yet. I'll get to it eventually.

Ought to find something in your grass types that have Sleep Powder or Spore. Sleep helps tremendously more than Paralyze would which helps even more than any other status (2x better catch than 1.5x with paralysis).

I think when I took it on, I was touting L40s against him and I primarily used Magnezone; Thunder Waved him first then went through him to get him down as far as I could. Then, it was just throwing balls.

Even when paralyzing the damn thing, I couldn't catch it... so when I was down to my last Pokémon, a level 21 Gyarados (HM slave), I just threw the Master Ball at it so I could catch it and get it over with (besides, I can just trade over more Master Balls from Diamond... =P)

Hate to say it but he does have a point. Meganium is best used as a screener due to its higher defense. It attack/special attack are only so good but it does have staying power.

I've got both reflect and light screen on her, holding light clay and aromatherapy for backup. Sleep Powder might be good to relearn, that or toxic (if possible without breeding)

I finished leveling up my Yanmega to Lv. 60. It knows Bug Buzz, AncientPower, U-Turn and Air Slash. With its high speed and sp.atk. it's able to take out Fire types decently well, though with low sp.def. he's not able to survive things like Fire Blast well if he doesn't finish them off.

I'm not really much into supportish attacks like Light Screen, but I'll probably go with it since I learned the whole Chicorita family doesn't learn any sleep-inducing moves except for Grasswhistle through breeding.

Chikorita really doesn't learn any strong attacking moves. She learns SolarBeam but her Atk stat is higher than her Sp.Atk stat by a fair amount. Only strong Physical Grass moves are things like Wood Hammer and Razor Leaf. Other than that she learns Body Slam which is good but you don't get STAB. I've relegated her to being support.

Actually, at Meganium, base ATK for her is 82. Base special is 83.

It's not much, really. DEF and SP.D. are at 100.

That's why a lot of people play her with the screening card.

I just happened to learn Body Slam, so that will help me out with non-grass moves. I replaced Synthesis with Frenzy Plant until I can find a Heart Scale.

If you're into breeding, it can be a very interesting candidate for stuff like Leaf Storm. Unfortunately, Meganium can't have Wood Hammer.
