Blitz Lunar just let me know that the old archive has finally passed the 30,000 mark. Site's been around for as long as I can remember (I've gone to it before I went to Ace's on I1) and is a huge source of MIDI files made off of a lot of games.

Yeah, it's one of my old favorites, and the guy on it once ran Sonic 2 Beta's Ezboard. I once played SSB:B against him too, IIRC.

It's not too shabby for a midi site, even as time has made the honored 'dig for midi' become 'go to youtube' for much video game music.

Personally, I'd rather have the data or like-data in front of me than an MP3/OGG/whatever of it. Less bloat on my hard drive.

Probably why I don't mind browsing sites like BotB or The MOD Archive. If nothing else, it gives me an excuse to toy with Ace's miditowav plug-in with Winamp.

I still have vgmusic on my Favorites list, right above vgmaps. Congrats to them for hitting the mark.

Some of the midis there have amazing quality, too. A few from Super Mario Sunshine and the new Que Sera Sera come to mind.

Yep, I have a huge playlist full of vgmusic.com MIDI's (the whole site up to last October, a whole 755MB ) and look at the newly submitted ones every once in a while ... there's quite a few nice ones in there, I should know after listening to pretty much all of it several times over the years

The site has been up since December 1996 (13 years ago), and it's still growing well even in the age of high bitrate MP3 soundtracks
