The burrito supply is low. I'm forced down to bean and cheese.

In this old, piece of crap microwave, a set of two beef burritos usually takes 4 1/2 minutes to nuke (it's that bad)...and even then there's usually cold spots. I nuke these bean ones at the same time and they're OVERLY cooked now.

They get burnt and crusty, huh? I remember having that happen the first few times I tried to microwave them when I was in a burrito phase. I'd have 2 almost every meal for a few weeks straight back in 2004 when I wasn't in school and not working. Piled high with cheese and sour cream. Mmm

Well, not necessarily in a phase so much as there's stuff I can get at work when I don't bring my own stuff in for a price. Didn't bring anything in because I didn't have anything prepped for today because I crashed out at 6 last night after I got home so I just said 'screw it I'll get something at work'.

Not to mention that this old microwave in here has its issues. We had to figure something out with the circuitry up here because the AC (a 110V one, no less) kept on kicking out when the microwave was used and would cause everything on that circuit to die until we reset it from the breaker. Yesterday, it got so bad that, even with a reset, the circuit wouldn't turn back on. Pretty sure it's not rated past 15A on this whole circuit and the AC itself takes that. Darned sure the microwave (an old, old turntable one) has issues in that vein being on the same circuit.

It takes that long where my one at home, that I RARELY nuke burritos in, takes half the time or faster.

It takes 4:44 to cook 3 burritos on almost any microwave I've ever tried (yes, 3; it's often the only thing I have during the day)

How it can take that long for 2 and not even cook fully is ... oi. Spend $80 and get a decent microwave.

Paulguy's Post configuration
Yeah I find that I'm usually calibrated for one microwave, that when I try to use another, I either end up with food with uncooked parts or food that's burned. Ugh.

Not even. 40 will get you one with a turntable that cuts the time in half. I know because I have one at home that I bought at that price.

We used to have a microwave here... it was my parent's wedding present. As in, older than me and my parent's marriage.

It'd take forever to heat anything up, and even then, leave icy chunks in whatever it was. It had a turntable, but it may as well not have had one, for how busted it was.

Then we upgraded to my grandpa's old microwave, from 1998. Man... that thing's overpowered, it just totally kills everything in it. Have to be careful... from one extreme to another, eh?

Bean and cheese sounds like hurricane food.

Hmmm..I should have picked some up.

My parents still have a microwave they got in, I believe, 1990 or 1991.

I had a newer one for a while, but it had an analogue timer that went to 30 minutes or so and was very hard to get any precision with. Often with a microwave you need to put something in for like 30 seconds, but with that timer it usually wouldn't start until you set it to 1 minute and you could be off by many seconds.

We have two microwaves. One that we've had for a while and one that came with the apartment. Funny, I think the people who lived here last installed it because not all the apartments here have them.

The microwave I have came with my apartment, and works great... it's a Frigidair, along with the stove/oven, the dishwasher and the refrigerator. =D

It has modes for defrosting, popcorn, water, etc., too...

Frigidaire makes appliances other than refrigerators?

I've never lived anywhere that actually came with a microwave, at least not that I remember. I thought it was only the more upscale places that had them, like the McMansions that my dad's sister prefers.

At the dorm, each floor has a tv lounge with a microwave and sink (for dishes). At home, we have some weird convection/ microwave combination gizmo. Usually, I cover whatever I'm cooking with a napkin or towel, so that when it splatters, it doesn't coat the inside of the microwave with food. With the convection part, though, the napkin just gets blown off :/ Ah, well. Doesn't really matter that much anyway, I suppose...

My microwave is pretty strong... I usually have to shave a good 15-30 seconds off of frozen foods and popcorn or it's gonna burn.
