Starting with Shrek Forever After we're looking at extremely expensive tickets.

I remember the old-school notion of 'a date is a date after we hit 20 dollars'. Is it 100 now?

Thats just 3 greedy theaters and only for IMAX 3D. But when something like this happens, it turns in to a trend which eventually ups the normal price. Right now, its $10.50 for adults here in town and $15 for IMAX.

...and the concessions are over $9000.

Seriously, it's a wonder why they even sell them, let alone why people buy them.

I heard about that from a friend, didn't think it was true.

It's only three and they're in New York.

If this happens in more theaters, more people will just pirate movies.

When I used to work at the movie theater, the staff and I went nuts when the prices hit $6.00

Heh, I remember going to $1 movie theaters when I was younger. Of course the movies played there had already been played in theaters for some time.

But it was nice to see 3+ movies for a dollar.

Fuck that noise. I know the theaters are strapped for cash and all, but I'm not paying $20 for one movie ticket.

$20?

Isn't that just about the cost to, you know, permanently buy the movie? Hell, you could rent it, buy a box of popcorn, a few jugs of soda, and still have cash left over.

Outrageous prices drive people away... Hopefully the fact that it went in just in New York won't mean it's headed elsewhere, because that price point is just fucking absurd.

Forever after was not a good movie anyways. Believe me, I seen it.

Not worth $20 bucks. I paid 8 dollars, and it still was not worth it.

Agreed, though I'm afraid of it being the new norm if someone tries to pull a new stunt like that, especially if there's enough idiots who are all "I gotta see it first!" and piss their money away.

Praying to God here that I'll be able to afford to see Scott Pilgrim.

Yes, I said afford. for a ~$10 ticket to see a movie.
