When you think about it, science can explain a whole lot of things.

However, it can't really explain certain intangible concepts. Such as, "Why, of all the living bodies on the earth, was I put in this body? Why do I perceive the world from *this* brain, as opposed to someone else's brain?"

So I have a kind of interesting question to ask:

Suppose it's possible to do a brain transplant between two people, such that the transplant can be performed flawlessly, everything will be hooked up perfectly, and it'll be just like the brains were in those bodies all along.

Would you still perceive the world through the same body, same eyes, but just with a different person's brain? Or, would you perceive the world in your new body, with your own brain?

Oh wow, I thought of something similar when I was much, much younger. The oldest memory I have is waking up in my parents' bed (around age three) in the morning before a doctor's visit and them needing a wet towel to open my sticking eyes... and pretty soon after that I wondered why I was seeing life through my body; I wondered how it looked though the eyes of others. I really thought I was amazing, special, because I was seeing with my own eyes.

But yeah, to answer your question, as a more scientifical person, I'd say you'd wake up in someone else's body. "[It would] be just like the brains were in those bodies all along [...]" is basically the base of my logic, and as you proposed it I don't need to reiterate, but if I were forced to explain it'd be because all the body's sensors (eyes, ears, etc.) would be receiving the same signals as your "old" body, except that they were sent to the "new" brain. In other words, I don't think there's a soul, really, it's the brain that controls your body and interprets the world around you.

First off, when I was younger, I always wondered what it would be like to see something from another person's body or their point of view. Then I realized that it wouldn't be me seeing it from their point of view and that it would still be the other person. If you take someone's eyes and put them in my body then I would still see the world as I have always seen it. It might be clearer but it would still be me.

Take Randy. If you took his brain and put into Sam's body, what would happen? Randy now has Sam's body. Does he see it from Sam's point of view or his? I don't think so. New body but the same mind, I think Randy is still Randy but just in a new shell.

I do believe in a soul. Not sure if it is carried in the brain or not but I believe that it is there. really, it's more of an essence and needs the brain to interrupt those inner thoughts/feelings/drive/hard to come up the right word and if the brain would be moved into another body I believe this soul would follow.

This reminds me of the China brain thought experiment.

And also this:

I believe that your brain would stay yours, and that you would just get input from body B as opposed to body A.
