More forays into something to beat up Flash.

Uses a lot of CPU, so it's not optimized just yet, and requires anything BUT IE to run (which is a plus, at least).

But cool, step in the right direction.

It works great (stable 40fps) and uses less than 1% CPU here, with Firefox 3.5.9 (a bit higher in Opera 10.51 but still low)

It's amazing what HTML5 can do already, considering that it's fairly new... now every browser except IE supports it. =D

I like YouTube's HTML5 player, but I think it's still in beta, unfortunately... I'm awaiting the final release of it, when the bugs have been ironed out. =)

Paulguy's Post configuration
Only used 8% on a core i7 in firefox 3.6.2, but X11's usage went up to 30%. Still, probably less than an equivalent Flash game.

For better or for worse, though, there needs to be some kind of event based or streaming (from the app, not a URL) audio support for it to really kill flash. At the moment any HTML5 stuff is completely silent, but it'd be nice for HTML5 games to be able to have audio. UNfortunately, this'll be used for the "CONGRATULATIONS YOU'VE WON A FREE APPLE IPHONE!" and shit... but they use this for flash anyway, but taking the power out of flash and giving it to the browser, I can see a lot of customizability in what will be allowed that Flash didn't allow... Flash has always been really light on features and configuration for the worst (but great for the advertisers.).

Works great in 3.6.2, 40 FPS without blinking. Also works in my 64-bit browser, which means amazingly all 64 of my bits are being used to run it. (Unlike Flash, which they refuse to make a 64-bit Windows plugin for.)

...and I was gonna say it uses about 5% cpu on my x6 T1090, but totally forgot I had youtube videos open.

So, about 2-3% cpu without youtube

I'm glad you're loving the shit out of that computer.

It makes me envious, ever so slightly.

And that was before it hit the markets. I'm just waiting for someone to take that thing up to 7GHz.

I'll see your Asteroids and raise you the Nintendo Entertainment System.

(Needs Flash to do the sound though )
