...Damnit, knew I forgot something.
I was going to make a thread on this when I read Renard's Tumblr post about it.

Anyway, these guys have got a lot of nerve, trying to bamboozle the dumber folk into thinking that something beneficial is bad...
Oh, hey, that sounds familiar! Fox News tactics, eh telcos? Stay classy...

It's Astroturfing for Prosperity, run by the people with many dollars who want to make more dollars. Surprise!

It's funded by a bunch of special interest groups. This is why you'll usually see them near anything else that seems appalling to anybody with a brain.

Absolute fucking bullshit, but that's basically all you get from conservative lobbyist groups, so I'm not surprised.

I guess there is another reason why I'm angry: I'm in a very conservative place in Florida. Very conservative.

They will eat this up and believe it to be true, REGARDLESS of what you say to them.

I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up on a few sites within a day or two.

Too bad the opposition groups don't have money, otherwise they could make an ad which mocks that one and says 'No, the corporations want to control YOU and YOUR INTERNET, fight THEM if you want real choice.'

Posted video on Facebook with the comment "If you believe this commercial, you deserve a double facepalm combo. Seriously. Don't even come back to the Internet if you believe this."

I doubt anyone will reply, but it still sums up my thoughts.

OK, this is ridiculous... I thought the FCC was supporting net neutrality, not against it... this group just sucks at advertising. =/

I advocate net neutrality, since it can stop stuff like DRM, which causes problems if you want to archive your data (such as SecuROM, but that's been cracked by many people anyway. =P)

This has nothing to do with the FCC. This commercial is made by "Americans for Prosperity," or AFP. It's just big-budget lobbyists.

Erm... What?

Net neutrality is a good thing because it will help bring an end to stupid policies, like the Viacom ban on YouTube. =/

That's, uh, the issue, Schala. Net neutrality won't do that. It'll stop throttling of internet speeds and ISPs blanketly blocking things they dislike; not corporations like Viacom blocking their content from Youtube or Music sellers using DRM. Those aren't ISPs, and their content control is not related to ISPs' neutrality in providing pipes, so they aren't regulated under the new regulations.
