Makes me wish I was better at baseball video games. I had heard about this challenge. Too bad the winner was on X-Box Should have been a PS3 winner...

What amazes me is he got it on his 6th try! Thats pretty incredible considering he hadn't played sports games previously.

I have won many things in videogame history: Mainly I won 3rd place in Halo 2 on the Xbox (Hate that game), and I only won a free full priced game, commercial publicity, and to be a part of the State tournament.

That is the most I have won: I have played in unoffical tournaments on UT2k4 in the past and present. But won nothing but short internet fame.

Bah, i actually think that someone should win $1 million for having put effort on work, not on these, i'd say, bullshit.
This is actually a shame for the poor people, poor africans included.

What I never got was how teachers, those who cultivate our youth and prepare our future, get paid almost nothing. In comparison, star athletes and actors get paid millions. I get that they have talent, are heroes for our youth (I really don't buy that one), have to spend lots of time and effort practicing, etc etc. But seriously, teachers have to do so much more and have such a greater impact; it's wrong for them to be paid so little.

Unfortunately, most people are willing to make a short-term investment of $40 to see a baseball game, and most people don't feel inclined to donate money to schools. Thus, huge athlete salaries are supportable, while similar salaries for teachers are not. Or at least that's what I've been able to draw from the situation.

Most I've really got worth mentioning was taking the entire former incarnation of this board in Tetris Attack. I'm nowhere near the prime form I used to be in that game.

Outside of that, in real life, yea, I've tried in a few...as far back as when I was in first grade with SMB. Did fairly well, actually...almost thought about doing it professionally for a while until I figured out what an Asian was. [/racism]

Actually good schools have huge endowments--much of which is comprised of alumni donations--and teachers at said schools get paid quite well. Even at the most lousy public school, teachers get a hefty pension, and when you consider that they get almost three months of vacation every year it's not a bad salary at all. They are hardly starving.

However, the fact that you think teaching should be incentivized by monetary gains reflects a sort of utilitarianism which subverts everything into a commodity. Asides from this paradigm being completely unique to your very personal valuations, it represents a worldview which can't recognize teaching as an inherently rewarding task, but one that needs to be goaded on by market forces.

Tangentially, while you might think that teachers do "more", professional athletes and actors earn so much because they are the crème de la crème, comparable to star professors or progamers. Good teachers tend to gravitate to schools with attentive students and freedom what they want, and bad teachers tend to remain once they get their foot in.
