You should add a staff credits editor.

Staff credits editor, hmm?

I haven't researched where the staff credits editor data is. It's probably ascii, but i'm not sure...

Yeah, I've been looking too, didn't find anything for it, not even a .txt file...

I think that finding the ROM addresses/data files that contain the staff credit text data will not be an easy feat, even through hex editing. I was digging through a Pokemon Crystal ROM that I have hacked with a hex editor and even a text bank editor but had no luck finding such data as well...

maybe an ascii (text) search for some developer names will reveal it...
I'll look at it tomorrow, when i'll have more time

EDIT: I'm not sure about the ethical and legal stuff involving the staff credits... What'd you do?

I guess only adding the hacker(s) name at the end and not changing the original names?

yeah...
I'd do only that. The Nintendo developers did a very great job on NSMB, and i think they deserve being at least on the staff credits...

However, I'm not sure if it'll be possible to add names. We'll see it when we find the data.

I don't know if someone said this, but it's very minor. If you merely click on an object or sprite, then close the editing window, it says that there are unsaved changes. I suggest you try to fix it to make it only say that when you actually edit something. But still, this is very minor and you probably already know.

yeah...
i already knew about that. I just didn't care about it because it's not very important. The problem would be when it closes without saying that there are changes when there are...

I'll probably fix it, but i'm not sure whats wrong...

Maybe add a Model editing? Like edit Mario, Luigi, Shrooms, etcetera...

Anyway, when will the 5.2 be released?

^ If I'm not mistaken, that's actually being implemented in 5.2. Dunno if it'd go as far as perfectly editing characters, but it's in the works.

Well...
What will be implemented in next version is a texture editor. You'll be able to edit all the textures that are applied to 3d models, like Mario, luigi, the overworld, the moving mushrooms and platforms and most enemies.

What will not be implemented is a model editor (changing the shape of stuff, not only the textures). It'd be super hard to do, and the ds's 3d model format is not very well known. There is one tool out there, called NSBMD Viewer, that lets you view the 3d models, but its very glitchy: a very small part of the models show up correctly. So editing models is mostly impossible yet.

Very soon. There are a few glitches on the 3d texture editor, related to transparency, which i'll try to fix ASAP, snd i think Piranhaplant hasn't finished undo yet, so when both things are done, it'll be ready to go.

Cool.

I'll probably learn C# fairly soon, so I might actually be helpful then

I've been trying to figure this out for a while, but I can't get it. I was using 5.1, and it messed up something in a level(s?). I upgraded to the beta of 5.2 (awesome, btw), and the levels still don't work.

1. World 1-4; going from Area 2 to Area 3.

Pipes are linked correctly, however when I enter the pipe to go to Area 3, it does the screen transition, and then black screen of death.

2. World 1-A; going from Area 1 to Area 2.

There may be something else crashing the game in the actual level, but I can't figure it out.

~~~
I've tried creating a patch off the original and applying it to a clean rom, and it's the same thing. Please help.
Patch, containing my entire hack (so far):
Please and thanks in advance! =D
well...
A black screen when going from one area to another is probably the destination area being corrupted, not the entrance incorrectly setup...
black screens...
But is there any texture editor "outside" the editor?
Not asfar as i know.
But the 5.2 texture editor wont be an editor, it will be an exporter/importer. So you'll be able to edit the exported images in photoshop, gimp, or whatever
About the ? Block: I believe it is impossible.
Changing Nintendo: Yes, it is possible. It is together with the title screen logo file.
