Why the hell do lawnmowers and leafblowers have to be so goddamn loud? Furthermore, why does GMU need to do shit to the grass every two days?

I'm sorry, it's just that I really hate being woken up at 9am by some loud machinery that has to stick by my window for an entire 10 minutes while they cater to the grass, which will die anyway because they placed it in a place everyone walks through anyway.

Seriously, what the hell? Cars are quieter than these, and they're larger.

I agree. I also hate the fact that they always do this early in the morning.

It's just a lawnmower, bro.

You seem to complain a lot about things these days.

Cars have headers, catalytic converts, and mufflers. Lawnmowers don't

And if you think waking up at 9am to lawnmowers, try 5am to crying babies. That really tests your patience.

This. Only because my sister's 6 1/2 years apart from my own age. I remember that amply since my room was right next to hers.

And I sleep through practically anything. Not that.

Try this: snowblower at 4 AM.

Jesus tapdancing Christ I just wanted to go over to whoever was doing that and smack them.

This, only it was actually a frontloader truck clearing out the ENTIRE PARKING LOT filled with snow.

For an hour.

Also: You try making a gas-powered lawnmower engine with whirling death blades silent.

In case you haven't been following motorcycles = motorcycles...

And yes, they are obnoxious. We have someone on our street that almost always gets home around 1am on weekends on his Harley.

Yep, I've been kept awake by snowplows at night. I understand they want the road/lot plowed by morning, but they'd make it hard to go to sleep. I think part of it is the plows' occasional beeping.

Speaking of which, do car alarms actually stop crime, or do they just cause neighbourhood annoyances when people push their key fob's PANIC button by accident?

Every 1 out of 25 times you hear one, its actually preventing theft... Which reminded me of a time our neighbors car alarm was going off for about an hour straight before I finally went over there. He said it wouldn't turn off and he couldn't start the car or anything to make it stop. So I opened the hood, disconnected the battery, then went back to bed. I was so pissed I didn't say much or I might have socked the guy in the face.

Car alarms, finicky smoke/CO alarms that sometimes give false warnings (like when cooking, near the bathroom, etc.), snowplows... don't really here too many lawnmowers or leafblowers here, since I'm in an apartment. =P

I actually took the battery out of my old smoke detector, because it would go off pretty much every time I used the toaster. Don't tell my former landlord

I have the same problem. I'm currently staying in a condo, so every thursday morning I'm greeted by the the most extreme mowers I've ever heard. They sound like chainsaws. Guess they get the job done.

One time the landlord decided to replace the roofs here, without warning, and I woke up with two construction workers shouting some vulgar conversation right in front of my open window. Since my room is on the second floor you can imagine how surprising this was.

I look forward to moving.

Some of the gas powered leaf blowers sound exactly like chain saws. They produce near hurricane force winds! Its crazy.

I can't say anything because I'm the one who mows the lawn, but I normally do so in the afternoon, rather than in the early morning...

Person next door replaced their floor and mirror tiles so loud that it began to sound like a jet engine INSIDE MY ROOM AT 8 AM.
